LCSO: Deputy responding to domestic call shoots armed suspect in St. James City; deceased man identified

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy responding to a domestic call in St. James City shot and killed an armed suspect.

On Friday, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno identified the suspect as Alex Paul Jordan, 37.

No deputies were injured and, as per policy, those involved will be placed on administration leave with pay.

The LCSO provided the following information on its Facebook page:

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

Sheriff Carmine Marceno confirms an officer-involved shooting on Crestwell Court in St. James City.

This afternoon, we responded to a home in reference to an active domestic violence investigation.

When deputies arrived on scene, they encountered the suspect who armed himself with a firearm.

Due to the immediate threat, the suspect was met with lethal force, ultimately killing the suspect.

No deputies were injured.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is on scene. This active investigation is in its preliminary stages.

As per agency policy, the deputies involved will be placed on administrative leave with pay.
