Cape man accused of sexual activity with minor

A Cape Coral man is facing charges after police say he engaged in sexual activity with a minor.

Erik Hudgens, 26, has been charged with unlawful sexual activity with certain minors, a second-degree felony.

According to Cape Coral Police Department officials, on Dec. 10, an officer responded to a local hospital regarding a reported a sex offense involving a minor and adult male. Following the initial response, police officials state the case was turned over to CCPD’s Special Victims Unit for further investigation, where detectives obtained additional statements and collected evidence.

“The investigation revealed that the suspect hosted gatherings at his residence where alcohol and marijuana were provided, and that he knowingly engaged in unlawful sexual activity with the 16-year-old,” a CCPD released stated.

On Dec. 11, members of the Special Victims Unit, with the assistance of SWAT, served a search warrant at Hudgens’ residence in Cape Coral on Northwest 24th Terrace, according to CCPD officials, as detectives developed probable cause to arrest.

As of Friday morning, Hudgens remained in custody at Lee County Jail. His bond has not been set.
