Air conditioning issues continue to plague Oasis Elementary North

The new school year at Oasis Elementary is not as chill as parents had hoped it would be.
Parents have shared their concerns over air conditioning problems at the municipal charter school, an issue at the last school year as well.
Oasis Charter Schools Superintendent Jacquelin Collins said they have had issues on and off with their AC unit at Oasis Elementary North since Hurricane Ian impacted the community.
“The problem is that the AC brand is Trane and when major parts are needed it can take weeks to receive them,” she said. “Sometimes, depending on the part that failed, Trane has to have the pieces built/manufactured.”
Collins said sometimes during storms the building gets hit by lightning and the AC must be reset.
“It takes a few hours to cool it to the normal temperature. It really is a variety of issues that contributes to this problem,” she said. “There was an issue at the beginning of the school year, but the fix was fast and immediate.”
With the city of Cape Coral being the school’s landlord, they immediately diagnose the problem and fix it if they can, or call in the AC vendor, officials said.
