3 teens killed after car crashes into canal

CORAL SPRINGS (AP) – Three South Florida teens are dead after the car they were driving crashed into a canal.

Coral Springs police say 16-year-old Sean Maxey was driving a 2007 red Volkswagen early Sunday when he struck another vehicle and then drove in reverse, backing up and running over a street sign.

The vehicle then hit a guardrail and turned over into the canal.

One passenger, 15-year-old Evan Sinisgalli, escaped from the vehicle and survived.

Coral Springs police extricated Maxey and two other teenagers, both 16, from the car. All three were taken to Coral Springs Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
