Beekeeper offering sweet reward for information
LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. (AP) – A Florida beekeeper is offering a sweet reward – $1,000 – for information leading to the arrest of vandals who destroyed 140 wooden hives of bees.
Mark McCoy of McCoy’s Sunny South Apiaries wants to know who ransacked his hives in Loxahatchee, west of Boynton Beach. McCoy says the hives would have sold for $170 each or could have been leased to growers who need bees to pollinate crops.
McCoy says he believes the vandals are either a beekeeper or somebody who knows about bees because anyone else would have been stung and unable to do much damage.
