The Cape Coral Animal Shelter will host its annual Trick or Treat for the Shelter Animals from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, in Cape Coral.

The fun-filled tradition invites families, children and Halloween-spirited adults to dress up in their favorite costumes and visit for a special kind of trick-or-treating — one where the animals get treats, too.

“It’s a wonderful way to bring our community together and share a little kindness with the animals,” Executive Director Liz McCauley said. “Our dogs and cats may not understand Halloween, but they certainly appreciate the love and attention.”

Visitors are encouraged to bring treats to share with the shelter’s furry residents. Special buckets will be placed outside the dog kennels and cat rooms so trick-or-treaters can leave a little something for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

The shelter will be decked out in Halloween decorations, with staff and some of the furry residents joining in on the spooky fun. In addition, it will have plenty of goodies for human trick-or-treaters.

There will also be an opportunity to meet adoptable dogs and cats, learn more about the shelter’s work and perhaps find a new best friend.

No registration is required.
