Vidrick earns degree from UW-River Falls
Anthony Vidrick, of Cape Coral, received a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at the spring commencement in May.
He also earned a Senior Merit award, which recognizes graduating seniors who have maintained a 3.500 grade point for their last 60 credits.
During the commencement, a total of 589 students received bachelor’s degrees, 80 received master’s degrees, six received doctorate degrees and four received associate’s degrees.
Founded in 1874, UW-River Falls is a regional public university with more than 70 undergraduate and graduate programs.
UAlbany welcomes Lu with Class of 2030
The University at Albany welcomed Xuanyu Lu, of Cape Coral, for the start of the fall semester.
Lu, who is majoring in chemistry, is among more than 3,500 students to make up the Class of 2030 — part of the largest first-year class in UAlbany’s history.
The incoming class was selected from over 36,000 applications and represents a 20% increase in first-year enrollment compared to last year. The students come from 40 states and 35 countries.
In addition to the new freshmen, UAlbany welcomed more than 1,000 transfer students this fall.
After moving into their residence halls, the new Great Danes attended the university’s traditional Welcome Week events, which was highlighted by the annual class photo and followed by the Convocation by Candlelight Ceremony.
The large incoming class reflects strong interest in UAlbany’s continued investment in student success. That investment includes an expanding portfolio of academic programs, stronger educational partnerships and enhancements to the student experience.
Williams named to Champlain President’s List
Amie Williams, of Cape Coral, was named to the President’s List for the summer semester at Champlain College Online.
Williams is majoring in interactive game design.
Students on the President’s List have achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or higher during the semester.
Champlain College noted that making the President’s List is a tremendous achievement. Many of the high achievers balance their career-focused classes with jobs, internships, clubs and volunteering.
It congratulated the students on the great accomplishment and honor.
Founded in 1878, Champlain College is a small, not-for-profit, private college in Burlington, Vermont, with additional campuses in Canada and Ireland. It offers an undergraduate program, plus online degrees and certificates.
Three Cape Coral students make Dean’s List at UMGC
The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) announced that more than 12,900 students were named to the Dean’s List for the summer term.
The following students are from Cape Coral:
• Falicia Fenn
• Steven Langdale
• Emily Starnes
To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.
UMGC was founded more than 75 years ago, specifically to serve the higher education needs of working adults and military servicemembers. Today, it is the largest provider of postsecondary education in Maryland and continues its global tradition.
