ParrotPhest returns to Fort Myers Beach for Oct. 1-4 trop rock weekend
Jimmy Buffett Day may be a year away, but the spirit of Margaritaville is strong as ever as ParrotPhest makes its return to Fort Myers Beach on Oct. 1.
Through Oct. 4, Parrotheads are invited to party with a purpose at the second annual ParrotPhest, hosted by Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach, The Villages Parrotheads and the Southwest Florida Parrot Head Club. Fittingly labeled “Trop Rock Weekend,” ParrotPhest will feature live music all weekend long, from high-energy tunes and acoustic beach classics to steel drums and feel-good island beats.
ParrotPhest will feature more than just music. On Friday and Saturday, Parrotheads are encouraged to make a difference by participating in a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Prizes include Parrothead club baskets and future Margaritaville brand stays. Raffle tickets are $5 each. Last year’s inaugural ParrotPhest raised $7,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
The trop rock weekend kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 1, with live music from 7 to 10 p.m. Guests can take their pick of upbeat island rhythms and trop rock classics with Caribbean Chillers at License to Chill Bar & Grill or smooth coastal vibes and storytelling with Stephen Clark at Lah De Dah Beach Bar & Grill.
On Friday, Oct. 2, the party starts at 4 p.m. at License to Chill, featuring trop rock with Reggie Starrett from 4 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a welcome meet-and-greet from 5 to 7 p.m.
The highlight of the night is the 6 p.m. Parrot Pageant, where guests can show off their tropical flair and compete for the crown of Best Dressed Parrothead to win a three-night stay at Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach.
The Friday night music lineup continues with Sebastian Portillo from 5 to 8 p.m. at JWB Grill; Monallo from 7 to 10 p.m. at License to Chill Theatre; and Otis and the Beachcombers from 7 to 10 p.m. at Lah De Dah.
Saturday’s lineup features:
• Orlando Phillips: 9 a.m. to noon, License to Chill
• Stephen Clark: 1 to 3 p.m., License to Chill
• Rudy Cox Duo: 4 to 7 p.m., License to Chill
• Jim Asbell and the Tropiholics: 7 to 10 p.m., License to Chill
• Sebastian Portillo: 5 to 8 p.m., JWB Grill
On Sunday, Oct. 4, guests can round out the weekend with three live performances:
• Nax Steel Drums: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., License to Chill
• Nathan Tata: 6 to 9 p.m., License to Chill
• Briz & Lady: 7 to 10 p.m., Lah De Dah
Avian representatives from the Bird Gardens of Naples will also make special appearances throughout the weekend, giving Parrotheads the perfect chance for a photo op.
