Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife to meet
The Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife (CCFW) will hold its first general meeting of the season on Sept. 8 at Rotary Park in Cape Coral.
National Audubon Society’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Land Stewardship Manager Allyson Webb will present on “Denizens of the Night: Bats of Florida.”
She will introduce attendees to Florida’s fascinating bats, exploring their vital roles in ecosystem health, the threats they face and ways the public can help protect the important nighttime residents.
The program will offer an opportunity for residents, wildlife enthusiasts and anyone interested in Southwest Florida’s natural environment to learn more about the often misunderstood and ecologically important animals.
Webb oversees land management across 13,450 acres. She also represents Audubon with the Southeastern Bat Diversity Network and Florida Bat Working Group. Webb is active in regional invasive species management organizations.
Networking will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the presentation at 7 p.m. The presentation will be followed by the general meeting.
The meeting is open to the public.
The CCFW is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing habitats in Cape Coral for protected wildlife species, including the city’s iconic burrowing owls.
