More than 160 students in Lee earn International Baccalaureate diplomas
The School District of Lee County congratulated the 165 students who earned their International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
The IB program offers a rigorous curriculum, provides college credit and offers a 100% Bright Futures Scholarship to students who complete the requirements.
“We celebrate our students for the resilience, curiosity and commitment they show every step of the way,” Advanced Courses Coordinator Natalie Elschlager said.
“Their achievements highlight not only their drive, but also the vital support of our families and educators,” she added. “We can’t wait to see the incredible impact they’ll make moving forward.”
Four high schools in the school district offer the IB program:
• Cape Coral High School
• Dunbar High School
• Fort Myers High School
• Riverdale High School
Fort Myers awarded 69 IB diplomas, Cape awarded 50 IB diplomas, Riverdale awarded 38 and Dunbar awarded eight.
The school district reported the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is renowned for its demanding academic standards and holistic approach to education.
To be awarded the IB diploma, students must meet the following requirements:
• Complete six subject courses from different academic areas, including language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics and arts.
• Undertake the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, which explores the nature of knowledge across disciplines.
• Conduct an independent research project known as the extended essay.
• Participate in Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) activities to foster personal and interpersonal development.
