Eighth annual three-day blood drive in memory of fallen Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller begins July 21
The family of Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller, the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee Health are hosting the eighth annual blood drive in honor of Jobbers-Miller’s memory.
The three-day blood drive will kick off at 8 a.m. on July 21 with a flag-raising ceremony, attended by members of the Jobbers-Miller family, Fort Myers Police Department and Lee Health followed by remarks from:
• Fort Myers Police Captain Roger Valdivia
• Jeremy Puckett, Lee Health Blood Center administrative director
• Renee McCauley, COO & nurse executive for Lee Memorial Hospital
• Dr. James Kasiewicz, Lee Health trauma surgeon
• Fort Myers Chief of Police Jason Fields
• Reverend Denise Sawyer, system director of Spiritual Services.
In July 2018, Officer Jobbers-Miller was shot in the line of duty. After spending a week at Lee Memorial Hospital, he sadly succumbed to his injuries. Each year, the Jobbers-Miller family collaborates with the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee Health to host this blood drive to make a positive impact on the community, encourage lifesaving blood donations and honor his memory.
Blood and blood products are crucial for surgeries and essential in treating cancer patients, premature infants, anemia and various other medical conditions. A single blood donation can save up to two lives. The Southwest Florida community is urged to donate blood in honor of Officer Jobbers-Miller’s service and sacrifice.
All donors will receive an Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller t-shirt and a commemorative pin in tribute to his courageous service to Fort Myers.
The first two days of the blood drive as well as the opening ceremony, July 21-22, are at Lee Memorial Hospital at 2776 Cleveland Ave., in Fort Myers. The blood drive is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days. On Thursday, July 23, the blood drive switches location to the Fort Myers Police Department at 2210 Widman Way in Fort Myers with the same hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
