Kitten season creates critical need for foster homes at Lee County Domestic Animal Services
Lee County Domestic Animal Services is asking for the community’s assistance during the busy kitten season.
Each year at this time, warmer weather triggers feline mating and causes shelters to see a large influx of kittens of all ages needing care. Cats can begin reproducing as young as four months old and may have multiple litters each year.
Domestic Animal Services needs foster homes for newborns needing bottle feeding, moms with litters and kittens needing a bit more time before being available for adoption. The foster commitment ranges from two to six weeks.
If you are interested in becoming part of Animal Services foster family, email fostering@leegov.com or call the shelter at 239-533-7387. Learn more at leegov.com.

The county has additional options for the community to help the shelter, including its Weekend Warrior program. This program lets community members give a shelter pet a break by fostering for a weekend or week. Learn more at leegov.com.
