Enrollment open for Camp Sunshine and Camp All Star at Karl Drews Special Needs Center

2 min read

Lee County Parks & Recreation is encouraging families with special-needs children to sign up for Camp Sunshine and Camp All Star summer programs.

Both camps will run 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 15 through July 31 at the Karl J. Drews Community Center, 18412 Lee Road, Fort Myers. The cost is $85 per week, per camper.

Camp Sunshine is designed for children ages 6 through 12 with special needs and offers structured activities such as arts and crafts, sensory play, swimming, games and field trips in a supportive environment.

Camp All Star serves ages 13 through 21 and focuses on recreation, skill-building and social engagement through themed activities, community outings and hands-on programming.

Both programs are led by experienced staff and include weekly themed activities, field trips, guest speakers and water days.

“Camp Sunshine and Camp All Star are more than summer camps — they are communities where children can learn, grow and simply enjoy being kids,” said Ursula Robertson, Lee County Parks & Recreation camp director. “Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where every camper feels included, supported and celebrated.”

Enrollment is limited. All campers must complete an assessment and interview prior to registration.
