League of Women Voters’ to host presentation on Overdevelopment in SWFL: Sacrificing Wildlife and Erasing Agriculture
The topic for the next League of Women Voters “Educational Events” presentation Saturday, April 4, is Overdevelopment in SWFL:
Sacrificing Wildlife and Erasing Agriculture.
The guest speakers are Amber Crooks, senior environmental policy advisor for the Conservancy of Southwest Florida; Katrina Shadix, executive director of Bear Warriors United, a nonprofit dedicated to defending Florida’s wildlife and ensuring peaceful coexistence between humans and nature; and John Hallman, a longtime cattle rancher whose passion is preserving Florida’s working farms and ranches.
The topics they will discuss include “How does fast-tracking overdevelopment of agricultural lands threaten food security and endanger Florida Farms?” and “How is destruction of habitat and depriving food jeopardizing species?”
The in-person discussion will run from 9-11 a.m., with registration and networking from 9-9:30 a.m., at The Collaboratory, 2031 Jackson St., Fort Myers. It will also be available via Zoom with the link being emailed to all registrants.
The meeting is free and the public is invited.
