Classical Christian Academy brought history to life for its entire PK-12th grade school on Friday.

Parents, teachers, and staff transformed the gym into life-size replicas of scenes from the headlines of 20th Century American history, which students have been studying in their history classes.

This hands-on, immersive experience had students, teachers, and parents dressed in period appropriate clothing, walking through historical headlines to recreate moments such as discovering flight with the Wright Brothers; built periscopes and spied across enemy lines during World War I in Europe; re-enaced life aboard The Titanic; participated in a debate and demonstration for Women’s Right to Vote; recreated some of Thomas Edison’s Inventions; visited the East and West sides of the Berlin Wall; learned about the battleships and aircraft used at Pearl Harbor; participated in the Discovery of DNA through litmus tests and the construction of DNA molecules using various materials; visited a replica of NASA’s mission control and pretended they were there for the first moments Man Walks on the Moon; panic shopped for Y2K and watched the ball drop from 1999 to 2000, and so much more!

“History day is one of our favorite days of the year,” said Tabitha Dillehay, CCA’s Lower School principal and organizer of this event. “Parents and teachers work together for weeks, planning, building, and preparing for the big day. Our goal is to make history come alive for our students. We want to immerse them in a historical time period, so they experience how people before them lived.”

CCA puts on “History Day” every year for its students, changing themes depending on what the majority of students are studying that semester. As this unique, fun, interactive experience brings classroom learning to life, it is one of the school’s most anticipated events for students, parents, and teachers alike.

The school is at 7101 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers.

ABOUT CCA

Classical Christian Academy is an innovative, PK-12, private school.

Since 2004, its hybrid program has provided the best of dual learning environments, combining the benefits of home education and classical, Christian education. The school has “proudly partnered with families to provide excellence in classical, Christian education to our students for more than 20 years.”

CCA is accredited by Cognia, FCCPSA, and NCPSA, which means the curriculum and policies are overseen and approved by national and local agencies.

“We dive deep with our students to fill their minds with more than facts – developing a student’s ability to think, reason, read, write and speak well.” school officials said. “Discover how Classical Christian Academy develops students who love to learn, parents who are in partnership with teachers, and an education that is foundationally taught from a Biblical worldview.”
