Northwest Regional Library’s programs, activities scheduled

December’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

 

Adult Programs

 

Knit and Stitch

10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 17

A casual, self-guided group for knitting, crochet and other needle arts. Join in to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers. Personal instruction will not be available.

 

Chess at the Library

5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9

Enjoy chess at the library in a casual environment. Chess boards will be provided, but you can also bring your own. People of all ages and skill levels are invited.

 

LCSO Presents: Frauds, Scams and Identity Theft

10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10

This class will cover how to safeguard your identity and personal information and what to do if you become a victim. Learn about current trends, cons, credit card fraud and card skimmers. Presented by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Registration is required.

 

Tabletop Game Time

1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10

Meet up at the library for a monthly board game night featuring modern tabletop games. The library has a rotating collection of light to medium weight games or bring your own games to teach and share. New and experienced players welcome.

 

The Book n’ Brew Society

10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Tea and coffee will be served.

 

Cosplayer Workshop

2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12

Cosplayers unite. Join fellow performers to work on your costumes together and workshop ideas for Fandom Fest. All levels welcomed.

 

Coloring Club

2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring while making new friends. All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own coloring books.

 

Winter Wonderland Workshop

10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18

Celebrate the season and get creative at our Winter Wonderland Workshop. Enjoy five festive craft stations along with a gift-wrapping area. Registration is not required. Supplies limited.

Winter Festive Photoshoot

10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4

Join the fun and strike a pose for a picture-perfect opportunity. Families are invited to capture seasonal smiles in themed snapshots.

STEAM Meet-Up: Medieval Faire Edition

Join us for a special edition of STEAM where we are going medieval. Put your engineering skills to the test as we build and launch mini catapults. May the best aim win.

Winter Wonderland in Whoville

10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18

Kids will enjoy Grinch-themed crafts, games and festive fake snow in a Whoville-inspired setting. Celebrate the season with fun activities inspired by this classic holiday tale.

 

Family Storytime

10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20

For children through age 5 years with caregiver. Enjoy books, rhymes, songs and activities. This fun and engaging program offers kids a chance to make friends and build skills through stories, music and movement. Caregivers participate with their children while learning helpful early literacy strategies and tips to continue at home.

 

Books and Blankets

6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23

Join us with your blankies and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

 

LEGO Club

1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27

Explore your creativity through building with LEGOS. What will you make? This is a fun activity the whole family will enjoy. All materials are provided.

 

Noon Year’s Eve Celebration

11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29

We’re celebrating the end of 2025 and ringing in 2026. Everything will gleam a little green with the turn of 2026. Join us in shimmering emerald sequins, neon green sneakers or a forest-green cape; go wild! Enjoy fun, music and dancing. At 11:59 we’ll ring in the hour with balloons, noise and fun. All ages welcome.

 

Teen Programs

 

Dungeons and Dragons at the Library

3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 16

Join us for an epic tabletop adventure where you’ll explore magical lands, face fearsome creatures and shape your own heroic story. We’ll provide everything you need, just bring your imagination and the spirit of adventure. For ages 12-18 years. Whether you’re brand-new or a seasoned player, all are welcome.
