District One Districtwide Roadwatch Report for Aug. 24-30

BARTOW, Fla. – This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

As a reminder, travelers can visit FL511.com from their phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state.

District One is 12 counties: Lee, Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Manatee, Okeechobee, Polk, and Sarasota.

LEE COUNTY

I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramps at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

I-75 From South of Bonita Beach Road to North of Alico: Construction Project: Nighttime Lane closure operations will continue Sunday Nights through Thursday Nights for resurfacing operations for I-75 northbound and southbound.

· No nighttime lane closures anticipated over the next few weeks due to inclement weather.

· Daytime activities will include:

Continued installation of signs and I.T.S. items.

Shoulder treatment and sod placement at Alico Road and Corkscrew Road interchanges utilizing shoulder closures.

Asphalt replacement beneath guardrails at Alico Road and Corkscrew Road interchanges utilizing shoulder closures.

· The current work schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project:  Phase 2 of construction has begun on the Little Pine Island Bridge. All traffic has shifted onto the newly constructed westbound side of the bridge, allowing two-lane traffic on the new bridge. Safety remains the top priority, so FDOT reminds everyone:

· Motorists are asked to exercise caution and reduce their speed while driving through the work zone.

· Pedestrian access to the bridge is not allowed during construction, which includes fishing and all other recreational uses.

· Motorists are reminded not to block driveways or entrances and to follow all posted signage throughout the construction zone.

· Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.

· Since the start of construction of the Little Pine Island Bridge, boaters are asked to be aware of construction equipment and erosion control measures that are in place.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: Reduced speed limits remain enforced east of the toll plaza. Pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway.

The following work activities above are scheduled to occur; however, unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule.

· The Punta Rassa Boat Ramp is now open to the public with limited amenities, including the ramp, partial docks, parking, and restrooms. Lighting work continues at the toll plaza. Crews must utilize the Punta Rassa parking area, reducing the number of boat parking spaces. Please use caution as construction vehicles and crews are present.

· The contractor is installing sod and signage east of the toll plaza.

All users are urged to be courteous and pay attention as bicyclists share the road on the Causeway and vehicles are entering and exiting at public beach access points of the Causeway Islands Park. Visitors may check www.leegov.com/parks for updates on amenities.

SR 865 (San Carlos Boulevard) from north of Crescent Street to north of Hurricane Pass Bridge: Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is making improvements along San Carlos Boulevard (S.R. 865). The purpose of the project is to provide additional travel options on a congested corridor, especially during the peak tourist season (January – April). The project will enhance mobility and safety for vehicular and non-vehicular transportation and increase accessibility and connections between community points of interest.

· Beginning Monday, August 25, through Thursday, August 28, the right southbound lane across Matanzas Pass will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews install conduit for permanent bridge lighting. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open throughout the duration of the work.

· Beginning Sunday, August 24, through Thursday, August 28, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., motorists should expect single lane closures as crews work on bridge joints across Hurricane Pass Bridge.

· Motorists are asked to exercise caution and reduce their speed while driving through the work zone.

SR 865 (San Carlos Boulevard) from Linda Loma Drive to Kelly Road: Construction Project: The purpose of this project is to provide improvements along SR 865 with the intent of enhancing safety along the corridor.

· During construction, motorists should expect daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures.

· Motorists should expect several left and right-turn lanes to be closed along the project limits.

· Motorists should expect a traffic shift on SR 865 northbound between Linda Loma Drive and Kelly Road for crews to facilitate concrete placement.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution and reduce their speed while driving through the work zone.

SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at Pine Ridge Road: Hurricane Ian maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures while crews perform repairs to the traffic controller cabinet. Police officers will be on-site to direct traffic as needed. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.

SR 739 over the Edison Bridge: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on northbound SR 739 over the Edison Bridge beginning Monday, August 11, 2025, between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. Work is anticipated to last approximately two weeks. Crews will be performing maintenance work. Motorists should be cautious and expect delays when traveling through the work zone.

SR 739 from north of the Caloosahatchee River to SR 78 (Bayshore Road): Construction Project: This project is intended to improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce crashes by constructing a continuous raised median, with bi-directional and full median openings. Proposed improvements also consist of milling and resurfacing of the roadway, two pedestrian hybrid beacons, upgrading the traffic signal at Pondella Road, ADA upgrades, lighting, signing and pavement markings, and drainage improvements.

· Motorists should expect full-time lane closures on the middle double left turn lane on SR 739 from north of the Caloosahatchee River to SR 78.

· Motorists should expect the inside lanes to be closed on both northbound and southbound SR 739 from north of the Caloosahatchee River to SR 78.

· Please use caution in the area, as crews will be working on and near the roadway.

· Please note that the construction schedule may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions.

SR 80 from Buckingham Road to Hendry County Line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing 9.5 miles of roadway, shoulder widening, turnout construction, guardrail, drainage, signing and pavement markings and installing intelligent transportation systems. Motorists should expect intermittent daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures throughout construction.

· Temporary closure of Cristobal Drive has been placed into effect.

SR 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard) from Veronica South Shoemaker Boulevard to Alta Vista Avenue: Permit project: Motorists should expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the week while crews perform soil boring operations to gather design criteria for upcoming improvements to the corridor. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.

SR 78 (Pine Island Road) from west of Chiquita Boulevard to west of Santa Barbara Boulevard: Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One will be making roadway improvements including milling and resurfacing, widening, turn-lane construction, and median modifications. Other features of this project include signalization, lighting and signing, and pavement markings along State Road 78 from Chiquita Boulevard to Santa Barbara Boulevard.

· Motorists traveling eastbound on Pine Island Road will not be able to access the left (northbound) turn lane onto Southwest 10th Place. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

o Motorists traveling eastbound SR 78 attempting to access Southwest 10th Place are encouraged to continue eastbound until they reach Nicholas Parkway and U-turn at the intersection. They can then continue westbound until they reach Southwest 10th Place.

· Motorists traveling westbound on Pine Island Road will not be able to access the left (southbound) turn lane onto Skyline Boulevard. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

o Motorists traveling westbound SR 78 attempting to access Skyline Boulevard are encouraged to continue westbound until they reach Chiquita Boulevard and U-turn at the intersection. They can then continue eastbound until they reach Skyline Boulevard.

· The current work schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

SR 45 (South Tamiami Trail) from Shadow Creek Boulevard to Pelican Landing Parkway: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. starting Monday, August 11, through Sunday, August 31, 2025. Crews will be performing maintenance to the shoulders. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 45 (Cleveland Avenue) from Lafayette Street to Oakley Avenue: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect to see crews performing concrete sidewalk work on northbound and southbound SR 45 beginning Thursday, August 21, through Thursday, September 18, 2025. Work will occur between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists should use caution as crews work on and near the roadway.

SR 45 (Cleveland Avenue) approaching the Caloosahatchee Bridge and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect a northbound right-lane closure on SR 45 approaching the Caloosahatchee Bridge and a northbound left-lane closure approaching Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. This closure will occur on Sunday, August 24, 2025, between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Crews will be replacing the attenuator at the approach to the Caloosahatchee Bridge. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the area as crews work on and near the roadway.

SR 31 from SR 78 (Bayshore Road) to Lake Babcock Drive: Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is making improvements to S.R. 31 from S.R. 78 (Bayshore Road) to Lake Babcock Drive. These interim improvements include building a new four-lane roadway east of the existing S.R. 31 roadway that will tie-in to the existing two-lane roadway. Additional improvements to the project corridor include separated multi-use trail facilities along both sides of S.R. 31, lighting enhancements at all major intersections, and significant enhancements to stormwater facilities. Anticipated completion is Spring 2027.

Districtwide Movable Bridges (Lee County): Construction Project: Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation is installing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) at the SR 31 Caloosahatchee River (Wilson Pigott) Bridge in Lee County. Construction will begin on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. This project includes the installation of pedestrian/bicycle detection systems, conduits, and electrical components, and connection to bridge tender buildings.

· Bridge work is anticipated to take 3-4 weeks to complete construction.

· Motorists are advised that there will be intermittent sidewalk and lane closures throughout the duration of construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures during the nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

· Motorists are advised to use caution in the construction zone.

· Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion of construction is in October 2025.

State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance Contract Project: Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance Contract Project: Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime hours from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Crews are edging along the roadside and curb and gutter on state roadways. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

I-75 Punta Gorda Weigh Station Improvements near Mile Marker 160: Construction Project: FDOT is improving the Northbound and Southbound Punta Gorda Weigh Stations on I-75 near Mile Marker 160 in Charlotte County. Improvements include pavement resurfacing and replacement, replacement of sidewalk and pedestrian features, replacement of static weighing technology and new signing and pavement markings.

The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.

· The Northbound Weigh Station is anticipated to reopen the first week of September, at which point the Southbound Weigh Station will close for approximately 6 to 8 months.

· Crews are currently working on sealing joints at the Northbound Weigh Station.

Crews may be working close to the roadway. Please exercise caution in the work zone. Construction is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2026.

US 41 (Tamiami Trail) from William Street to Peace River Bridge: Construction Project: The contractor is working to install new signals and lighting along US 41 northbound.

· Motorists should also expect a single lane closure for crews to perform signalization and light installation work approaching the Peace River Bridge.

· The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen conditions. Expected completion in Summer 2026.

US 41 and SR 776 at Various Intersections: Hurricane Ian signal repair project: Crews will be installing illuminated signs along US 41 in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte at several intersections. Motorists should expect minor traffic delays and slow-moving traffic. Please use caution as crews install signs.

SR 45 (Tamiami Trail) from South of Morningside Drive to North of Saint Pierre Road: Construction Project: The improvements under this contract include milling and resurfacing of the roadway and upgrading the signing and pavement markings.

· During construction, motorists should expect daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures for paving of the mainline and turn lanes.

· Motorists are asked to exercise caution and reduce their speed while driving through the work zone.

· The estimated completion is Fall 2025.

SR 35 (US 17) from Tamiami Trail (US 41) to Bermont Road: Construction project – The contractor is continuing to mill and repave SR 35 (US 17) from the Florida Street Bridge to Bermont Road. Motorists should expect nighttime/overnight lane closures.

· Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on SR 35 (US 17) eastbound and westbound for the installation of guardrail and median curb placement.

· Motorists should expect the left lane to be closed on SR 35 westbound at the I-75 interchange to be closed for widening work.

· Motorists should expect shoulder/single lane closures on SR 35 (US 17) eastbound and westbound for curb installation and widening areas.

· The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.

SR 31 at CR 74 (Bermont Road) Roundabout Construction: Construction project: These improvements will include constructing a roundabout, milling and resurfacing, upgrading drainage, installing new lighting, adding landscaping, signing and pavement marking. Throughout construction, motorists should expect intermittent daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures.

Motorists should expect to see crews performing work during the daytime hours, beginning Monday, August 25, through Thursday, August 28, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will be fine grading, installing base and asphalt for the Roundabout and along CR 74. Work will begin on the installation of light pole bases.

Motorists should expect to see crews performing work during the daytime hours on Friday, August 29, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews will be fine grading, installing base and asphalt for the Roundabout and along CR 74. Work will begin on the installation of light pole bases.

COLLIER COUNTY

I-75 at Pine Ridge Road (exit 107) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 at Pine Ridge Road interchange. The interchange improvements include reconstruction of the Pine Ridge Road Interchange converting to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) design, reconstruction of the interchange on and off ramps, construction of pedestrian and bicycle accommodations through the interchange, installation of new signals at the ramps, and resurfacing of Pine Ridge Road through the project area.

The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.

· During the nighttime/overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., motorists should anticipate lane closures on Pine Ridge Road. Please use extra caution when driving through this area and expect delays.

· Please note that the westbound lanes of Pine Ridge Road have shifted one lane to the south, and traffic on the southbound off-ramp has shifted one lane to the east.

· Crews will be working on drainage installation, roadway work, pond excavation and underground utilities.

· Crews will be working on clearing and grubbing and installing erosion control throughout the project area.

I-75 from (Alligator Alley) Resurfacing from Mile Marker 97 to Mile Marker 85: Construction project: FDOT is resurfacing I-75 (Alligator Alley) from Mile Marker 97 (just east of the Alligator Alley West Toll Plaza) to Mile Marker 85 in Collier County. Improvements include resurfacing of the road, replacement of sections of guardrail, shoulder improvements, and new signing and pavement markings.

The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. 

· Crews will be working on earthwork in the median and shoulder work.

· Motorists should anticipate lane closures throughout the duration of construction.

Crews are working close to the roadway. Please exercise caution in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, and anticipate delays. The expected completion date is spring 2026.

I-75 at SR 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on- and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.

The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.

· Motorists should expect a nighttime/overnight lane closure for eastbound SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Market Street to SR 951/Collier Boulevard. Motorists traveling eastbound on SR 84/Davis Boulevard must use Market Street to Business Circle South to CR 951/Collier Boulevard.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures for southbound and northbound CR 951/Collier Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours for crews to move equipment, deliver materials, and construct the overhead bridge work.

· Motorists should expect both northbound and southbound CR 951/Collier Boulevard travel lanes to shift from Business Circle South to I-75 to create work zones for crews to construct the elevated roadway.

· Motorists should expect the outside right turn lane from southbound SR 951 to westbound SR 84/Davis Boulevard closed. Drivers can continue to turn right from the remaining open turn lane. This closure is needed for crews to begin work for the bridge foundation installation and will remain in place through job completion.

· Pedestrians should expect a sidewalk closure along SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) just west of SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) and along SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) between SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) and Business Circle North. Pedestrians may use SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) to Market Street to Business Circle South to access SR 951 (Collier Boulevard).

· Motorists are advised that the SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) eastbound direct access ramp heading south to SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) is permanently closed. The eastbound to southbound right turn will be available at the intersection.

· Motorists should expect reduced lane widths for southbound Collier Boulevard between Business Circle North and Business Circle South.

US 41 (Tamiami Trail) from Central Avenue to 5th Avenue South: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent daytime and nighttime/overnight lane and turn lane closures on northbound and southbound US 41 (Tamiami Trail) beginning Monday, July 7, through Sunday, August 31, 2025. Crews will be performing storm drain maintenance. Motorists should use caution as crews work on and near the roadway.

US 41 (Tamiami Trail) from Banyan Boulevard to 7th Avenue North: Permit Project: Motorists should expect an overnight lane closure on southbound SR 45 beginning Thursday, August 21, through Sunday, August 23, 2025, between the hours of 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. Crews will be performing utility work. Motorists should expect delays and use caution as crews work on and near the roadway.

SR 90 (Tamiami Trail) from 6 Miles north of T & T Airport Road to 5 miles south of T & T Airport Road: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent right shoulder closures on SR 90 southbound beginning Monday, August 11, through Friday, August 29, 2025, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will be trimming vegetation. Motorists should use caution and expect slow-moving traffic as crews work near the roadway.

SR 90 (US 41) from Loop Road to Miami-Dade County Line: Permit Project: Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures on SR 90 beginning Monday, August 4, through Friday, August 29, 2025, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Crews will be conducting Geotechnical Borings. Motorists should use caution as crews work on and near the roadway.

SR 82 from the Hendry County Line to Gator Slough Lane: Construction Project:

Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during the daytime and nighttime/overnight hours throughout the duration of the project.

· Work consists of bridge construction, adding lanes and reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, drainage, grass median, sidewalk, guardrail, shared-use path, detention ponds excavation, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement markings.

· Crews will be performing roadway widening, including clearing & grubbing, excavations, and embankment construction on the westbound and eastbound of the roadway. Crews will be performing bridge deck construction on the westbound side of the roadway.

Motorists should anticipate lane closures with flagging operations on State Road 82.

Frequent and brief flagging operations are taking place throughout the day to assist trucks in safely crossing the road within project limits

· Moss Solar is putting up a solar energy field just East of the project limits. They will have numerous trucks from now until mid to late July delivering the solar equipment out to their site, in addition to 200-300 project personnel traveling through the SR 82 corridor beginning sometime in July.

· The current work schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

· Motorists should use caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The estimated completion Date is Spring 2027.

SR 45 (Tamiami Trail) from Vanderbilt Beach Road to Strada Place: Permit Project: Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures on US 41 beginning Wednesday, August 20, through Wednesday, August 27, 2025, between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Crews will be installing conduit. Motorists are advised to exercise caution as crews work on the roadway.

SR 45 (Tamiami Trail) from Michigan Avenue to Trail Terrace Drive: Permit Project: Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on SR 45 northbound beginning Monday, August 25, through Wednesday, August 27, 2025, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will be installing a box structure. Motorists are advised to exercise caution as crews work on the roadway.

SR 29 Wildlife Crossing: Construction project: Crews will be constructing wildlife detection signs.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on State Road 29 just south of Immokalee during daytime hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

· Motorists should expect both travel lanes on SR 29 to be intermittently closed, bringing them down to a single lane with flagging operations.

SR 29 and SR 90 (US 41) Resurfacing and Road Improvements: Construction Project: FDOT is resurfacing SR 29 from north of Wagon Wheel Road to south of I-75, and on SR 90 (US 41) from south of Southwest Boulevard to north of Thomasson Drive in Collier County. Improvements to both SR 29 and US 41 include milling and resurfacing, shoulder improvements and new signing and pavement markings. Additional improvements to US 41 include reconstruction of concrete sidewalks, replacement of curbs and installation of pedestrian curb ramps, and replacement of traffic signal detection loops.

The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.

· Motorists should anticipate lane closures throughout the duration of construction.

Work on US 41:

Crews will be working on milling and paving during nighttime/overnight hours with lane closures anticipated from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists.

Work on SR 29:

Crews will be working on mowing and litter removal.

Crews are working close to the roadway. Please exercise caution in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, and anticipate delays. The expected completion date is early 2026.

DESOTO COUNTY

SR 70 from Peace River to Southeast Baker Street: Construction project: Crews will reconstruct approximately 3.4 miles of SR 70 within the City of Arcadia. The project includes the installation of new drainage facilities, relocation and addition of sanitary and water and utilities, upgrading traffic signals, reconstructing sidewalks, and installing street lighting in various locations. During construction, lane closures will occur on SR 70. Temporary pedestrian pathways are in place while sidewalks are under construction. Detours will be implemented while crews work on side roads. Please follow posted signage and use caution in the area.

· Eastbound SR 70 traffic is currently using the right lane from the Peace River to Baldwin Avenue. Between Baldwin Avenue and Dade Avenue, traffic shifts to the left lane, then back to the right lane past Dade Avenue. Traffic continues in the south lane until Roger Avenue, where it shifts back to the north lane. No lane restrictions are in place past Baker Street.

· Westbound SR 70 traffic remains in the right lane until Volusia Avenue, where it shifts to the left lane. Between Polk Avenue and Monroe Avenue, traffic shifts back to the right lane. No lane restrictions are in place past the Peace River.

· Westbound traffic between Volusia Avenue and Polk Avenue will shift from the south lane to the north lane on the night of Wednesday, August 20th. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area with the new traffic pattern.

Estimated completion is early to mid-2027

SR 70 from DCI (Desoto Correctional Institution) to Desoto/Highlands County Line: Utility maintenance project: Crews will be installing new utility wires and replacing existing poles.

Utility work is expected to continue through December 2025. Utility crews and equipment will be active throughout the corridor.

Motorists should expect intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures with one-lane flagging operations in place.

Please use caution in the area and watch for workers, traffic signage, detours, and equipment throughout the project.

· SR 78 is closed between US 27 for roadway reconstruction, with the closure in effect through September 2, 2025. Both eastbound and westbound turn lanes from US 27 to SR 78 are also closed during this time. Traffic traveling to and from SR 78 should follow posted signage and use Industrial Drive as a detour route.

· Construction operations will be suspended August 29 through September 1 for the Labor Day holiday.

Estimated completion is fall 2025.

SR 78 over Fisheating Creek Bridge and Herbert Hoover Bridge: Construction project: Crews began bridge repair and rehabilitation work on SR 78 at the Fisheating Creek Bridge and Herbert Hoover Bridge.

· Motorists should anticipate shoulder closures in both northbound and southbound directions, extending through the weekend.

· Drivers should expect the right shoulder closure for northbound traffic near south of Lake Port.

· Crews will be performing intermittent single lane closures on SR 78 just south of Lake Port in both northbound and southbound directions during daytime hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout August. Use caution when traveling through the area and obey posted signage

HARDEE COUNTY

CR 664 from East of Pool Road to North of Palm Drive: Construction project: Crews have begun work on CR 664 from east of Pool Road to north of Palm Drive to remove and replace Bridge No. 060034 over Little Payne Creek.

· Expect a full road closure on CR 664 between East of Pool Road and North Palm Drive starting January 6, 2025, lasting approximately 250 days.

· A detour route is in place to guide motorists safely around the construction zone. Access will be maintained for local traffic only.

Completion is expected in late 2025.

SR 66 from US 17 (SR 35) to Charlie Creek: Construction project: Crews will mill and resurface SR 66 from US 17 to Charlie Creek. Improvements will include milling and resurfacing. Motorists expect a detour for phase I reconstruction at Merle Langford Road when the westbound lane of SR 66 is closed for construction. Eastbound SR 66 will remain open throughout. Other improvements consist of sidewalk construction, drainage structures, guardrails, curb and gutter, new pavement markings and other safety improvements. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers, traffic signage, detours and equipment throughout the project.

· The detour will remain in place throughout the duration of the project. Westbound SR 66 was closed from Merle Langford Road to US 17, with traffic detoured via Steve Roberts Special and SR 64. Eastbound SR 66 remained open.

· Phase II reconstruction work began on June 24, 2025. Westbound SR 66 remains closed, with the same detour route in effect. This phase supports additional resurfacing and safety improvements. Portable message signs and barricades are in place. Temporary pedestrian routes are provided where sidewalks are closed.

· Motorists should anticipate longer delays in queues, follow posted signs, and consider alternative routes.

SR 64 from Pear St to S Barlow Road: Construction project: The State Road 64 improvement project in Hardee County includes milling and resurfacing existing pavement, reconstructing worn sections of roadway, improving drainage systems, replacing and installing guardrails, updating signage and pavement markings, and enhancing driveway turnouts for safer access. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers, traffic signage, detours and equipment throughout the project.

· Intermittent single-lane closures on SR 64 eastbound and southbound will occur throughout the project limits for driveway milling and paving operations.

HENDRY COUNTY

SR 25 (US 27) from Stitt Ranch to west of Flaghole Road: Construction project: Crews will begin milling and resurfacing work on SR 25 (US 27) from Stitt Ranch to west of Flaghole Road in Hendry County. The project includes guardrail improvements, drainage enhancements, updated signage, and new pavement markings.

· Motorists should anticipate single-lane closures in both eastbound and westbound directions for the installation of work zone signs, erosion control devices, drainage improvements, removal and replacement of guardrail, placement of miscellaneous asphalt pavement, and milling and resurfacing of the mainline.

Districtwide Movable Bridges (Hendry County): Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation is installing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) at the SR 29 (Bridge Street) Caloosahatchee River Bridge (Labelle) in Hendry County. Construction began Sunday, June 15, 2025. This project includes the installation of pedestrian/bicycle detection systems, conduits and electrical components, and connection to bridge tender buildings.

· Bridge work is anticipated to take 3-4 weeks to complete construction.

· Motorists are advised that there will be intermittent sidewalk and lane closures throughout the duration of construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures during the nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

· Motorists are advised to use caution in the construction zone.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion of construction is in October 2025.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY

US 27 (State Road 25) and SR 66: Permit project: crews will be constructing a westbound right turn lane on SR 66 and access to the new RaceTrac Gas Station on the northwest corner of this intersection. This will include constructing a concrete median between the westbound travel lane and the eastbound left turn lane.

· Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.

· Watch for shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures on southbound US 27 and westbound SR 66.

· Work will be conducted during daylight hours, including constructing a new access and median.

US 98 (State Road 700) from East of Floral Drive to East of County Road 621: Construction project: Crews have begun milling, resurfacing, and widening the roadway. The project also includes drainage enhancements, guardrail upgrades, and updated signage.

· Shoulder closures will be in place on both northbound and southbound US 98 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

· US 98 will be reduced to one lane with flagging operations to allow for construction activities. Three-mile closures will resume next week to accommodate paving operations. Construction operations will be suspended Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday.

· Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction.

SR 17 from Roberta Avenue to Pasadena Avenue in Sebring: Utility permit project: Duke Energy crews will be performing utility improvements along SR 17, including pole replacements, transformer upgrades, and overhead line reconductoring as part of a storm hardening initiative. Tree trimming will also take place to ensure proper clearance from electrical infrastructure.

· Work will occur along SR 17 between Roberta Avenue and Pasadena Avenue in Sebring.

· Activities include utility pole replacement, line upgrades, transformer installation, and vegetation management.

· No lane closures are currently anticipated; however, motorists may encounter shoulder work and intermittent traffic impacts. Flaggers may be present to assist with safe traffic flow.

SR 25 (US 27SR 25 (US 27) at Stryker Road / CR 17A: Permit project: Crews are reconstructing medians and turn lanes on SR 25 (US 27), both north and south of the intersection with Stryker Road and CR 17A.

Left lane closure for northbound and southbound US 27 (SR 25) from August 11- 25, 2025.

Median work and left lane restructuring will be conducted during daylight hours to modify the northbound left turn lane by adding new median structures and restructuring the existing concrete median.

SR 25 (US 27) from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road and SR 25 (US 27) from North of Tower Street to South of Tower Street: Construction project: Crews are reconstructing rigid pavement on SR 25 (US 27) from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street. Additionally, milling and resurfacing work is ongoing on US 27 from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road.

· Caution: New Traffic Pattern. Traffic has been shifted into Phase III to reopen the southbound lanes. Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime lane closures on both northbound and southbound lanes throughout the project limits.

· Nighttime lane closure on US 27 and Interlake Boulevard / CR 621 intersection to construct a new signalized intersection.

· Southbound outside lane closures are in place between E Royal Palm Street and Shoreline Drive.

· Median access at CR 29 and Old State Rd 8 will be permanently closed to improve safety and traffic flow.

· Motorists should use caution, as a new median configuration is in place at Heartland Boulevard.

· Motorists should anticipate an inside lane closure northbound and southbound between Shoreline Drive and Interlake Boulevard for median widening.

· Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on the northbound and southbound outside lanes of US 27, as well as construction activity at the intersection of SR 70.

· Intermittent lane closures for paving operations resume and will continue throughout the duration of the project. Three-mile Lane closures will be in place in both northbound and southbound directions to accommodate this work.

· Construction operations will be suspended from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday.

· Motorists should use caution, follow posted signs, and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.

Lakeview Drive (SR 17) near Ridgewood Drive in Sebring: Utility permit project: Crews began utility work along Lakeview Drive on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the north end where Lakeview and Ridgewood Drive merge.

· Lane closures will be in place throughout the work zone. During crane operations, both travel lanes on Lakeview Drive will be closed, and traffic will be shifted using the center turn lane.

· Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for workers, signs, and equipment.

Estimated completion is December 2025

SR 66 from Payne Road to US 27 (State Road 25): Utility permit project: Crews are installing new utility wires and replacing existing poles along State Road 66. Additional work includes the installation of underground utilities.

Expected completion is September 2025.

SR 70 from Highlands County line to Okeechobee: Utility maintenance project: Crews are installing new utility wires and replacing existing poles along SR 70. Crews began utility work in March 2025, and operations are expected to continue through the end of the year. Utility crews and equipment will be active throughout the corridor.

· This project is part of a larger pole replacement effort extending from DeSoto County through Highlands County and into Okeechobee County.

· Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures along SR 70 as crews replace poles and install new wiring. Lane closures will be controlled by flagging operations in place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

· Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for workers and equipment in the work zone.

MANATEE COUNTY

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and include US 301 improvements. This week, crews will pave I-75; milling and resurfacing on US 301; and ramp work.

· On Sunday, August 24, from 11 p.m. to Monday, August 25, at 5 a.m., crews will CLOSE the US 301 on-ramp to I-75 southbound. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes; or identify alternate routes.

· On Monday, August 25 from 11 p.m. to Tuesday, August 26 at 5 a.m., crews will CLOSE the SR 64 on-ramp to I-75 northbound. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes; or identify alternate routes.

· Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures on US 301 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures on Tidewater Preserve Boulevard through the duration of bridge construction.

· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and US 301 through the duration of the construction.

· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

I-275 (SR 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River: Construction project: Crews will begin milling, resurfacing and installing pavement markings on 2.2 miles of roadway on I-275 (SR 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River in late August 2025. The project improvements include milling and resurfacing, shoulder and ramp work, overbuilding for cross-slope correction, guardrail and signing, and pavement markings.

· Motorists can expect single-lane closures on I-275 overnight throughout construction

· Motorists can expect on- and off-ramp closures at the intersection of US 41 and I-275 with overnight detours. Only one ramp will be closed at a time.

· Motorists can expect an outside lane closure southbound from September 7 through September 11 from the hours of 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

· Motorists may wish to use alternate routes if traveling in the area from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Estimated completion is late summer 2026.

I-75 and SR 70: Landscape project: FDOT will be installing landscaping and associated irrigation within the interchange this summer through early fall. Motorists can expect occasional shoulder closures on SR 70 and I-75 ramps as tree and plant material are being offloaded (no landscaping to be installed on the interstate). Please use caution in the area.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews are in the final stages of a 7.6-mile improvement project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, and pavement marking.

· Motorists can expect daytime shoulder closures along US 301 for shoulder construction at intersections between 25th Court East and 13th Avenue East.

· Motorists can expect intermittent nighttime shoulder widening at various intersections Sunday through Thursday for the next few weeks.

· Motorists can expect nighttime paving with flagging operations to resume at various intersections throughout the project.

· The project’s completion is expected fall of 2025.

US 301 and SR 37: Construction project: Crews are working in the project limits. Please use caution and be prepared to slow down.

US 301 and Old Tampa Road/Erie Road Intersection: Permit project: There will be an eastbound outer left dual-turn lane closure to the northbound outer lane on Erie Road and a northbound outside lane closure on Old Tampa Road crossing over US 301 starting on August 21 through September 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will be repairing damaged drainage pipes. Please watch for lane shifts and construction workers.

SR 789 (Gulf of Mexico Drive) from SR 684 (Cortez Road) to Longboat Pass Bridge. Maintenance contract: Crews will be repairing damaged concrete sidewalks in various locations from south of the Longboat Pass Bridge to Cortez Road, starting Monday, August 25, through Friday, August 29. Motorists should expect intermittent daytime periodic lane closures controlled by a flagging operation from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please use caution- this will be a daytime operation.

SR 789 (Gulf of Mexico Drive) from South of Broadway Street to North of 4141 (Sea Club Beach Resort): Maintenance contract: Crews will be reworking the shoulder and placing Hydroseed in various locations both north and south. Work will start at the north end of the island, south of Broadway, and work southward to north of Sea Club Beach Resort at the Manatee County Line. Shoulder closures with temporary intermittent lane closures will occur on Monday, July 7, through Friday, September 26. This will be a daytime operation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SR 789 (Gulf of Mexico Drive) From South of Broadway Street to North of 4141 (Sea Club Beach Resort): Maintenance contract: Crews will be removing and replacing damaged sidewalk (southbound only). Work will start at the north end of the island, south of Broadway, and will continue southward to north of Sea Club Beach Resort (at the Manatee County Line). Please use caution and watch for shoulder closures with temporary intermittent lane closures starting Monday, July 7, through Friday, September 26. This will be a daytime operation within the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SR 684 (Cortez Road) from 125th Street West to 115th Street West: Maintenance contract: Crews will be repairing damaged concrete sidewalks in various locations on SR 684 (Cortez Road) between 125th Street West and 115th Street West, starting August 25, through August 29. Motorists can expect an outside eastbound lane closure from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please use caution- this will be a daytime operation.

SR 684 (Cortez Road) from 26th Street to 14th Street West: Landscaping project: Motorists can expect periodic temporary lane closures for landscaping maintenance for the next few weeks. No nighttime lane closures or night work is anticipated.

SR 684/Cortez Road from 75th Street West to 86th Street West: Permit project: There will be eastbound/westbound inside and outside lane closures on SR 684/Cortez Road from 75th Street West to 86th Street West through September 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contractor will be constructing right turn lanes, median dual left turns, two intersection improvements, side street improvements, signing and pavement markings and drainage improvements. Please watch for lane shifts and construction workers.

SR 70 from Verna Road East: Maintenance project: Crews will conduct temporary eastbound lane closures with flagging operations on SR 70 from Verna Road east for approximately one mile from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. August 12 – 21. Crews will perform ditch reshaping and maintenance.

SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on SR 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

This week’s work will consist of:

· Crews will grade stabilization between Arbor Green Trail and Greenbrook Boulevard.

· Installation of curb between Arbor Green Trail and Greenbrook Boulevard

· Sod will be placed along the outside swales for eastbound SR 70 between Uihlein Road and paving will occur for future eastbound lanes between Uihlein Road and Greenbrook Boulevard.

· Excavation of the pond on the north side of SR 70 west of Uihlein Road.

· Embankment hauling and grading will occur between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of SR 70. Trucks will be crossing current SR 70 travel lanes. Please be aware of flaggers stopping traffic for this crossing.

· Crews will grade stabilization between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of SR 70.

· Installation of a drainage pipe between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of SR 70.

Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

Uihlein Road is expected to be closed in September 2025 to construct the north portion of the Uihlein Road roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted on Uihlein Road between SR 70 and Sapphire Point Drive in either direction. A complete detour and message boards will be provided in advance of the closure being implemented.

SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on SR 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

This week’s work will consist of:

· Grade for the future shared-use path and roadway on the south side of SR 70 between 213th Street 213th Street and Meadow Dove Lane.

· Future eastbound construction will continue with stabilized subgrade and base construction between 213th Street and Meadow Dove Lane, on the south side of SR 70.

· Grading of embankment and stabilization west of Lindrick Lane on the south side of SR 70.

· Utility relocation work will occur on the North side of SR 70 on the shoulder.

· Installation of concrete foundations and pull boxes for future lighting on the south side of SR 70 from Lindrick Lane to Meadow Dove Lane.

· Construction of a box culvert between Lindrick Lane and 213th Street in existing SR 70 lanes at the location where traffic was diverted.

213th Street is expected to be closed in October 2025 to construct the south portion of the 213th Street Road roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit 213th via SR 70. A complete detour and message boards will be provided in advance of the closure being implemented.

SR 64 West of River Heritage Boulevard: Permit project: Crews will conduct a temporary westbound outside lane closure on SR 64 just west of River Heritage Boulevard from August 18 to September 3 during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contractor will construct a right-turn lane along with a driveway connection and drainage. Please watch for lane shifts and construction workers.

SR 64 from 10th Street East to Braden River: Construction project: Crews are working on milling and resurfacing, adding drainage improvements, replacing guardrails, new pedestrian signals, temporary and permanent electrical improvements, pavement reconstruction, sidewalks and curb, ramp reconstruction, signing and pavement markings, signalization, and lighting.

· Pedestrians can expect detours throughout the project and are encouraged to use caution.

· Motorists can expect lane closures overnight, starting after 7:30 p.m. for milling and resurfacing.

· Project completion is anticipated for mid-2025, weather permitting.

SR 64 From 407th Street to Wauchula Road: Maintenance contract: Crews will be reworking ditches on the outside east and westbound lanes. Starting Monday, August 18, through Friday, August 22, motorists can expect intermittent daytime lane closures controlled by a flagging operation between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please use caution- this will be a daytime operation.

SR 62 Starting at SR 37 Westbound towards US 301: Maintenance contract: Crews will be reworking ditches. Please use caution- this will be a daytime shoulder closure from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lakewood Ranch Boulevard from SR 70 to University Parkway: Permit project: Manatee County will be milling and resurfacing Lakewood Ranch Boulevard from SR 70 to University Parkway, through December 31, 2025. I-4 at SR 33 (Exit 38): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange, reconstruct I-4 bridges over SR 33, widen and resurface SR 33, wildlife crossings over I-4 and under SR 33, and noise walls on SR 33. This week, crews will work on clearing vegetation, installing barrier wall, and paving temporary asphalt.

Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-4 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-4 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 33 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet West of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. All scheduled work will be performed off the roadway with no planned lane closures.

US 98 from South of Griffin Road to Sharon Drive: Construction project: This project includes milling and resurfacing, repairing and improving drainage, improvements at Pyramid Parkway, special emphasis crosswalks, enhanced lighting, upgraded signal equipment, new northbound signs identifying the I-4 ramps, and painted bike lanes for emphasis.

· Expect northbound and southbound nighttime/overnight lane closures south of I-4 and daytime lane closures north of I-4. Use caution and be prepared to merge as crews work on restoring curb, sidewalks and sodding throughout the project.

· Pipe crew will be working at the I-4 ramps at night/overnight. Use caution and watch for changes in the traffic patterns at the ramps and lane closures on US 98 both north and southbound.

US 98 from West Socrum Loop Road to CR 54: Construction project: The improvements under this project include widening US 98 to a 4-lane divided highway, creating roundabouts at the Big Cypress Boulevard and SR 471 intersections, relocating utilities, improving drainage, adding pedestrian crosswalks, and building shared use paths from W Socrum Loop Road / Hall Road to just north of Rock Ridge Road.

· Periodic lane closures with flagging operations (up to one half mile sections at a time) on US 98 between W Socrum Loop Road and CR 54 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, August 25, through Saturday, August 30, 2025. Be prepared to stop.

US 27 from North of Holly Hill Cut-off Road to North of Deer Creek Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes milling and resurfacing; shoulder work and signal equipment upgrades on US 27 from north of Holly Hill Cut-off Road/North Boulevard to north of Allen Brothers Boulevard/Deer Creek Boulevard in Davenport. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures for paving from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

US 27 turning onto Main Street: Maintenance permits project: Watch for nighttime/overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. while Haines City Utilities contractor bores for a 20″ watermain line. Watch for lane closures and be prepared to merge.

US 17/US 98 from 9th Street NE in Fort Meade to Oak Hammock Loop in Bartow: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing of the existing pavement, signal upgrades, inside shoulder widening, bicycle keyhole lanes at the existing right turn lanes, intersection improvements at CR 640/Homeland Garfield Road that include additional lighting and pedestrian upgrades, revising the two full access median openings with directional median openings at 3rd Street NE and Pembroke Road North, and widening the median to provide a northbound to southbound U-turn lane approximately 200′ north of Pembroke Road.

· Expect northbound and southbound daytime lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, from north of Homeland-Garfield Road to Oak Hammock Loop.

· Watch for 24-hour lane closures at the following locations:

o Northbound US 17 south of Homeland-Garfield Road

o Southbound US 17 south of CR 640

· Unexpected repairs to an underground drainage structure are required at the CR 640/Homeland-Garfield Intersection. The US 17 southbound left turn lane will be closed Monday, August 25 and possibly Tuesday, August 26.

US 17/92 from Tiny Flower Road to Lem Carnes Road: Maintenance permit project: Expect daytime lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews work on a turn lane, drainage, gravity wall construction, and paving into a new development.

US 17 from Snively Avenue to Ave K SW: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for north and southbound lane closures at night/overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews work on inlet tops and sidewalks. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

SR 572 from Airport Road to Pipkin Creek Road and SR 572 Roundabout at Waring Road: Construction project: Project improvements include resurfacing and lane widening on SR 572 and a new roundabout at Waring Road. This week, crews will work on utilities, drainage, and roadway grading.

· On Monday, August 18, 2025, crews began closing off ramps on SR 570 (Polk Parkway) to install wrong way devices. The project team anticipates the operations scheduled within the limits for the SR 572 at Waring Road Roundabout and Resurfacing project to last one week, ending on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Dates of operation are subject to change, weather permitting.

· On July 7, 2025, crews closed the North side of Waring Road and exit 4 of the Polk Parkway. A detour route is available to access Drane Field Road eastbound and westbound from the south side of Waring Road, exit 3, and exit 5 of the Polk Parkway. The closure will be in place until late December 2025.

· Motorists should expect lane closures through the duration of the construction.

(Polk Parkway) Resurfacing and Roadside Resurfacing Project from West of Lakeland Highlands Road to South of US 92: Turnpike Project: Polk Parkway/SR 570 is being resurfaced from west of Lakeland Highlands Road (milepost 8) to south of US 92 (milepost 17) in Polk County. Work includes paving Polk Parkway, US 98 ramps, Lakeland Highlands Road, and Winter Lake Road. This project also includes installing new guardrails, rumble strips, and highly reflective signs and pavement markings, and upgrading existing drainage. Construction will continue through mid-2026. SR 570B (Central Polk Parkway): Turnpike project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is constructing Central Polk Parkway/State Road (SR) 570B, a new, four-lane (two lanes in each direction) tolled roadway. This new stretch of roadway will begin at Polk Parkway/SR 570 and Winter Lake Road/SR 540 and extend approximately 6.5 miles to US 17/SR 35. Expect lane closures and intermittent work on SR 540 (Winter Lake Road). Use caution and be prepared to merge. The westbound Polk Parkway exit ramp to Winter Lake Road (Exit 14) is expected to remain closed through late 2025. Westbound Polk Parkway/SR 570 traffic wishing to access Winter Lake Road/SR 540 (Exit 14) is directed to exit at US 92 (Exit 17), travel east on US 92 to Recker Highway/CR 655, travel southeast on Recker Highway to Spirit Lake Road, and travel south on Spirit Lake Road to access Winter Lake Road. Central Florida Wrong-Way Vehicle Detection Technology Implementation Project: Turnpike Project: Wrong-Way Vehicle Detection Systems (WWVDS) are being enhanced throughout Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Polk, Orange, and Brevard counties. Work includes increasing the amount of wrong-way signage, roadway reflectors and pavement markings in locations along Florida’s Turnpike/SR 91, Beachline Expressway/SR 528, Polk Parkway/SR 589, and Veterans Expressway/Suncoast Parkway/SR 589. Motorists can expect daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures of the outside eastbound and westbound lanes at the Weohyakapka Creek Bridge. These closures are necessary for traffic railing wall installation, roadway widening, and drainage work. Use caution when traveling through the area and be prepared to merge.

SR 60 from CR 555 (Crown Avenue/Agricola Road) to Broadway Avenue and from the Eastbound SR 60 Split to East of the Peace River Overflow Bridge: Construction project: This project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage, sidewalk and guardrail work, signal, lighting paving from Agricola Road to North Broadway Avenue. Expect slow moving vehicles for striping and lane closures for overhead sign installation at night/overnight from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, August 24 through Thursday, August 28, 2025, between CR 555 (Agricola Road) to North Broadway Avenue. SR 37 (South Florida Avenue) at East Palmetto Street: Utility project: City of Lakeland crews will close the center turn lane near East Palmetto Street from 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, through 6 a.m. Thursday, September 7, while working on the sewer system.

SR 37 from Ft Green Mine to SR 674: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for southbound and northbound lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as crews replace sod on shoulders. Use caution, watch for flaggers directing traffic and be prepared to stop.

SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard) from Parkview Place to Griffin Road: Construction project: Project improvements include roadway reconstruction, milling & resurfacing, placing curb and gutter, installing a new drainage system, widening sidewalk, upgrading signals and lighting, and upgrading water and sewer lines for the City of Lakeland. This week workers will continue installing drainage and water lines along the east side of Lakeland Hills Boulevard and on Gilmore Avenue.

· Gilmore Avenue remains closed from Parkview Place to Julius T Horney Drive through late September. The closure is necessary as crews install new water pipe, sanitary pipe, and storm drains along Gilmore Avenue. Follow posted detour signs to navigate around the closure.

· Lakeland Hills Boulevard will be reduced to one lane with flaggers directing traffic at night/overnight while crews continue installing drainage beneath Lakeland Hills Boulevard. Use caution and be prepared to stop.

· Watch for side street closures along the east side of Lakeland Hills Boulevard as crews work to install new storm drains and water lines. Any side street closures will utilize the adjacent side streets to route traffic east towards Gilmore Avenue to the respective closed street.

· Traffic will remain in one lane in each direction for most of the duration of construction. Use caution, be prepared to merge or stop, and plan for delays.

· The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph during construction.

SR 17 (Scenic Highway) from 5th Street to Crooked Lake Drive: Construction project: This full depth reclamation (FDR) project includes removing and reclaiming the roadway and underlying base to create a stronger base for the new roadway, adding new pavement, improving drainage, reconstructing some side street entrances, and repairing and replacing sidewalk and curb. This week the contractor will place the permanent pavement markings on the roadway and work on curbs. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures and possible daytime shoulder closures. Be prepared to merge or stop.

SR 17 (Scenic Highway) and South 3rd Street from East Bullard Road to Johnson Avenue: Construction project: This project includes making drainage improvements, reconstructing asphalt, milling and paving the roadway, constructing sidewalk, and reconstructing some driveway aprons. Crews will continue drainage improvements on South 3rd Street and SR 17. South 3rd Street is closed from East Bullard Road to Johnson Avenue with all traffic detoured onto SR 17. Use caution and follow the posted detour.

County Line Road over Peace River Bridge: Construction project: This project includes replacing the County Line Bridge over the Peace River in Polk and Hardee Counties. The new bridge will have two 12-foot lanes with additional eight-foot shoulders. This week crews will continue earthwork, drainage, and gravity wall. Countyline Road remains closed at the Peace River. Motorists should follow the posted detours.

· Eastbound: Head north or south on US 17 to Hardee Street and east on Hardee Street to Lake Branch Road. Head southeast on Lake Branch Road to Platt Road and head north back to County Line Road.

· Westbound: Head east or west on County Line Road to Platt Road. Head south on Platt Road to Lake Branch Road and head west to Hardee Street. Turn left (west) on Hardee Street to US 17. Turn right (north) on US 17 back to County Line Road.

Haines City Sidewalks along Hornet Drive, East Grace Avenue/Hornet Drive, South 20th Street and East Hinson Avenue: Construction project: This project includes construction of four new sections of sidewalk that will link to existing sidewalks, improving accessibility for students walking to school and from nearby neighborhoods. This week crews are working along Hinson Avenue. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

SARASOTA COUNTY

I-75 at SR 780/Fruitville Road Interchange (Exit 210): Construction project: Project will: reconstruct the interchange to a diverging diamond interchange; widen about two miles of I-75, from Palmer Boulevard to north of Fruitville Road, to a six-lane highway with three through lanes per direction; reconstruct or widen I-75 bridges over Fruitville Road, over Palmer Boulevard, and Main A Canal; widen Fruitville Road from Honore Avenue to east of Coburn Road; install seven-foot buffered bike lanes and six-foot sidewalks on Fruitville Road; replace traffic signals and lighting on Fruitville Road; and construct a noise wall on I-75 northbound from Bee Ridge Road on-ramp to just north of Main A Canal. This week, crews will work on installing erosion control devices, clearing and grubbing, and work on I-75 shoulders.

US 41 (SR 45) from 14th Street to Dr. Martin Luther King Way: Permit project: The City of Sarasota Phase 1 Watermain Replacement project: There will be an intermittent north and southbound inside and outside lane closure on US 41 from 14th Street to Dr. Martin Luther King Way starting in July, 2025, during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasional intermittent nighttime work may be required throughout the project with an estimated completion in 2026. Please look for lane shifts and construction workers.

US 41 Business/ KMI Drawbridge Over Hatchett Creek: Maintenance project: Crews will be conducting routine maintenance overnight on the drawbridge in Venice from August 25 – 29. Motorists can expect single-lane closures during the project from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. One northbound and southbound travel lane will be open at all times. Travelers may want to avoid the area and consider alternate plans during the project.

US 41 from West of West Villages Parkway to Woodmere Road: Construction project: Crews will begin milling and resurfacing US 41 from west of West Villages Parkway to Woodmere Road in August 2025. The project limits cover approximately five miles. In addition to resurfacing crews will perform shoulder treatment, install vehicle detection systems and apply new signing and pavement markings.

· Motorists can expect temporary nighttime lane closures throughout the project.

· Motorists can expect crews to be present intermittently during the day throughout the project.

Expected completion is late 2026.

SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Road embankment installation continues on the northbound roadway from Aucilla Drive to US 41. As embankment is completed, drainage installations, subgrade mixing, curb placement, and roadway grading will continue. Sod installation, signal, ITS, and lighting work are ongoing. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations. Pothole maintenance will continue as necessary on all current travel ways through the project.

SR 683/Washington Boulevard from Oak Street to Laurel Street: Permit project: There is a sidewalk closure on US 301 between Oak Street and Laurel Street with possible outside northbound lane closures for construction of a development. Please look for sidewalk detours, lane shifts and construction workers through November.

Clark Road (SR 72) from Honore Avenue to West of Gantt Road: Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation is milling, resurfacing, installing curb, gutter, drainage and pavement markings on less than one-half mile on Clark Road (SR 72) from Honore Avenue to west of Gantt Road in Sarasota County.

· Motorists can expect intermittent single- and dual-lane closures overnight throughout the project.

· Please watch for signs, barricades and workers close to the travel lanes and obey posted speed limits in the construction zone.

· The Palmer Crossing Mall entrance off Clark Road at Chick-fil-A /Shell gas station/Jimmy John’s is temporarily closed from July 11 to approximately October 11, 2025. Patrons can access the businesses via two other entrances to the mall off Clark Road and two entrances off Honore.

· The project’s estimated completion is in mid-2026.
