Peterson promoted to COO for Harry Chapin Food Bank

Harry Chapin Food Bank this week announced the promotion of Marissa Stress Peterson to chief operating officer. She has been an integral part of the organization’s leadership team since joining in November 2021, most recently serving as director of Community Impact and Partnerships.

With more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and government sectors, Peterson is recognized for her collaborative, solution-oriented approach and a strategic mindset. Her leadership has been pivotal in strengthening partnerships, developing innovative programs, and expanding the food bank’s reach across Southwest Florida.

She holds a bachelor of arts degree from George Mason University and a graduate degree in criminal justice administration from Boston University.

She also serves on several advisory boards, including the Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging and the Health and Wellness Coalition.

Harry Chapin Food Bank, a Feeding America partner food bank, is the largest hunger-relief organization in Southwest Florida and serves 250,000 neighbors monthly through its Feeding Network of 175 agency partners. In 2024, the nonprofit distributed 39.5 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 32 million meals, at food banks and mobile pantries across Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties.
