An array of two- and three-dimensional work by members of The Dedicated Artists of Southwest Florida Inc. will fill the gallery walls and display cases of the Cape Coral Library from now through Oct. 27. The exhibit began Thursday, Sept. 1.

This marks the 6th time that the local club of artists will be featured at the Library located at 921 S.W. 39th Terrace, off Mohawk Parkway.

The Friends of the Cape Coral Library art gallery committee is excited to have these skillful artists exhibit again this fall, because the variety of their designs and surfaces on which they paint is extensive.

The Dedicated Artists of Southwest Florida is a local club of approximately 60 members who are full- or part-time residents of various cities within the local tri-county area. Members attend monthly DASF meetings (held in the Cape Coral Art League building) that feature different painting projects conducted by talented instructors. Mediums may include acrylics, oil, watercolor and colored pencils. For more information about the club’s meeting schedule, location, projects and seminars visit www.DASFartists.com.

While learning the art of painting is integral to the club, there is also an amount of community outreach. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, DASF philanthropic projects support the Harry Chapin Food Bank, a $500 annual scholarship for a Lee County high school senior, a Suitcase Project that provides decorated cases for the Children’s Network of SW Florida and a Memory Box Project that donates hand-painted keepsake boxes to various hospitals around the state for grieving families to hold remembrances of a child lost. To support its community projects, DASF holds an annual Winter Luncheon fundraising gala for 150 guests at the Legends Country Club. The event includes a silent auction of members’ beautiful artwork and theme baskets, plus a boutique with stocking stuffers for sale.

Changing art exhibitions in the library’s gallery are sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library and are designed to afford local artists the opportunity to share their work in this public forum.
