Willman paintings, Aliperti pottery featured in Cape Coral Library Gallery
The Cape Coral Public Library has announced its two new art exhibits in the library’s gallery.
Dianna Willman has a solo show on all walls of the spacious Art Gallery of the library. Willman’s exhibit includes her paintings on a variety of subjects rendered in oil, acrylic and watercolor. Her award-winning work has been recognized in numerous regional and national exhibitions, and she’s been teaching painting in all mediums at the Pine Island Art Association for the past 20 years.
In her classroom, Willman enjoys giving demonstrations and one-on-one attention to help develop each student’s skills.
Regarding her own work as an artist, Willman said, “I use a painterly technique and attempt to achieve a mood through color, value and composition. I hope to give the viewers a feeling of well-being and maybe transport them for a moment in time to the place I have painted.”
Pottery by Rick Aliperti is featured in the three lighted cases in the gallery. Aliperti’s journey in clay began back in 1969 after he saw a program on American Indian pottery. The next year, he took classes at a pottery studio, purchased some equipment, began showing his work at art fairs and started teaching classes.
His passion for the craft continued over the years even as he worked full-time in a business career. Now retired, Rick and his wife Margaret run The Pottery Court from their house located adjacent to MaryJane’s Preserve, a gopher tortoise preserve they own in Cape Coral.
Aliperti’s work spans a wide range of clay ware: burnished pit fired blackware, sculptured whistles, tiles, specialty plates and wheel thrown pots.
Aliperti is including, in this library display, some work created by his students at the Cape Coral Art Center in the hope of encouraging people to “experience the magic of working with clay.”
The Cape Coral Library is located at 921 S.W. 39th Terrace, and the latest exhibition may be viewed during regular library business hours from July 6 through Aug. 27.
