* Motor Club fundraiser
The SanCap Motor Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Sanibel Community House Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Sanibel Community House and neighboring city park, 2173 Periwinkle Way. The event will include a car show of 100 vintage, luxury, performance and special interest autos, an auction featuring select automobiles, boats and cycles, musical entertainment, a silent auction and auto related museum. It will also include a beer, wine and food garden.

* The Christian Women’s Connection
The Christian Women’s Connection of Cape Coral invites all women to its “Winter Gardening” Breakfast Buffet Monday, Jan. 11, at the Palmetto Pine Country Club at 1940 S.E. 9th Court in Cape Coral The breakfast is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the cost is $17, inclusive.
Donna Sember will be the inspirational speaker. Her theme is “Giving Your Life the Best Rating.”
Mayer Berg from Riverland Nursery will provide tips on how to create a landscape that reflects the beauty of Florida’s tropical climate during the winter.
Guests will also be entertained with the music of singers Angel and Brad Dobson.

* The Peanuts Movie kicks off Outdoor Family Movie Nights
The ever-popular Outdoor Family Movie Nights return to the Alliance for the Arts on Friday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. with a screening of The Peanuts Movie. Pack up your lawn chairs, coolers and blankets to enjoy this fun and endearing animated film under the stars with your family and friends!
The Outdoor Family Movie Night series continues on Friday, Feb. 19, at 7:15 p.m. with Home, and concludes on Friday, March 18 at 8:30 p.m. with Epic. A suggested $5 family donation helps the Alliance continue offering affordable family programming.
The Alliance for the Arts is at 10091 McGregor Boulevard just south of Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.
* Calusa Blueway Gatherings speaker series
“Naturally Twisted: A Wild Look at the Wild” will be presented in January by photographer Mark Renz as the second talk in a series of free Calusa Blueway-related programs that will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month through March at the Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center, 16760 Bass Road, Fort Myers.
Renz, who calls himself a realist who sees things that aren’t there, adds his own wild brand of commentary in the form of poems and prose to his photos. Visit his Facebook page (“Florida Time Forgot”). Renz also has written several amateur fossil books, including “Fossiling In Florida,” published by University Press of Florida. He and his artist wife, Marisa, operate a Southwest Florida-based guide service, Fossil Expeditions.
