Cape Coral
Book signing
A book signing for “Images of America: Cape Coral” will be held from noon-1:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at Cape Dog & Deli, 1227 Cape Coral Parkway E. Author Chris Wadsworth will sell and sign copies of the latest history book, which explores the Cape’s early years. Featuring more than 200 historic photographs, the book captures the city’s birth and development.
City Championship Golf Tournament
The city of Cape Coral and Coral Oaks Golf Course will host the 2009 City Championship Golf Tournament Saturday-Sunday. The registration fee is $125 per player and includes all green and cart fees, beverages on the course, awards luncheon Sunday, tee gifts and range balls for each golfer, plus prizes and trophies for the top finishers. The tournament is limited to 172 competitor and interested golfers can register by visiting the Coral Oaks Pro Shop or calling 573-3100. Entry forms can also be accessed at: www.coraloaksgolfl.com.
Rotary Park
Rotary Park, 5505 Rose Garden Road, presents:
– Tuesday: Orchid potting lecture and demonstration, for ages 16 and older, from 5:30-7 p.m. Cost is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents.
– Oct. 24: Tropical Plant Bazaar from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
– Oct. 27: BYO Orchid Re-Potting class, for ages 16 and older, from 5:30-7 p.m. Cost is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents.
– Oct. 29: Kids Kayakkity Yak, for ages 8-14, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Children learn how to properly and safely handle a kayak. Cost is $35 for residents and $53 for non-residents. The camp takes place at Four Mile Cove Ecologist Preserve.
– Oct. 30: School’s Out Nature Camp, for ages 8-14, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost is $30 for residents and $45 for non-residents.

Island Dolphin Sunset Cruise
Island Dolphin Sunset Cruise for all ages from 6-8:30 p.m. today and Thursday, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday and Tuesday, and 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Cost is $30 plus tax for ages 10 and up, and $20 plus tax for ages 2-9. Holiday lights cruises are $34 plus tax.

Uncommon Friends Foundation
Three honorary life memberships and the volunteer of the year award will be presented during a special event for the Uncommon Friends Foundation at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burroughs Home, 2505 First St., Fort Myers.
Those being honored with the memberships are: Fort Myers Mayor Jim Humphrey; Ken Sneeden, owner and president of Ken Sneeden & Assoc.; and the family of John Halgrim III. Helen McLaughlin will be presented with the volunteer award.
Honorary life memberships are presented to individuals who have demonstrated the character traits of the Uncommon Friends, commitment to helping friends, unending personal growth, a spirit of adventure and a sense of purpose. The volunteer award is presented to an individual who has given time and talent to the organization.
The public is invited to attend the event. Cost is $25 and includes heavy hors d’oeuvres. The presentations will begin at 6:15 p.m. Reservations are requested by calling 337-9505.
