The city of Cape Coral’s Development Services Department has expanded its automated push-button permitting program to include residential irrigation and residential fence permits, making it faster and easier for property owners and contractors to obtain permits for eligible projects.

The additions target two common home improvement projects. Through the program, licensed contractors and owner-builders can submit qualifying applications online and receive expedited approvals without waiting for traditional plan review. Automating routine permits also allows city staff to focus on more complex development reviews, improving efficiency and reducing administrative workloads.

“While the process is faster, all work must continue to meet the requirements of the Florida Building Code and the city’s Land Development Code,” the city reported. “Required inspections remain in place to verify that work meets applicable safety and building standards.”

The revised residential irrigation and fence permitting process is available through the city’s EnerGov/CSS online portal.
