Suncoast’s matching gift campaign to benefit Harry Chapin Food Bank
As Hunger Action Month continues, Suncoast Credit Union is helping the community make an even greater impact by matching every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $25,000 made to the Harry Chapin Food Bank through Sept. 30.
It reported the matching gift comes at a critical time as food insecurity continues to affect Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties. One in seven people and one in five children experience food insecurity, and nearly 300,000 neighbors rely on the food bank every month for nutritious food.
“We are incredibly grateful to Suncoast Credit Union for stepping forward during Hunger Action Month with this generous matching gift. Every dollar donated through this campaign will go twice as far in helping provide nutritious food for children, families and seniors facing hunger across Southwest Florida,” Harry Chapin Food Bank Chief Development Officer Jennifer Denike said. “We are thankful for partners who invest in our community and inspire others to make an even greater impact.”
Community members have until Sept. 30 to double the impact of their donations. The matching gift campaign comes during Hunger Action Month, when communities across the country focus on raising awareness about food insecurity and encouraging meaningful action.
Earlier this year, the food bank distributed its 500 millionth pound of food since opening in 1983. As the need continues to grow, it expects to distribute 100 million pounds of food annually by 2050 and it is investing in the future through the Hunger Action Center in Fort Myers, which will open later this year, and a new Naples distribution center expected to break ground in 2027 and open in 2028.
