The School District of Lee County is hosting two Transportation Job Fairs Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, April 1, welcoming Southwest Florida job seekers interested in positions as school bus operators and mechanics.

The job fair on March 24 will be held from 3-5 p.m. at East County Regional Library, 881 Gunnery Road, N., in Lehigh Acres. The April 1 event will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. at Lakes Regional Library, 15290 Bass Road, in Fort Myers. Each event provides candidates an opportunity to speak directly with transportation recruiters and learn about open positions, qualifications and next steps in the hiring process.

The School District of Lee County is among the largest school districts in Florida and the United States, serving more than 100,000 students across 118 schools. School bus drivers serving the District are responsible for providing safe, timely, efficient and courteous transportation services for Lee County students. Mechanics work collaboratively to conduct thorough vehicle safety inspections and perform minor repairs to keep the fleet operating efficiently.

Minimum qualifications for bus drivers include at least five years of driving experience, a satisfactory driving record and a Social Security card. The district provides free training for candidates who do not already possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL).

Starting pay for bus drivers and mechanics is $19.57 per hour and immediate job openings are available. The district offers flexible hours and benefits for full-time employees.
