Waited until the last minute to find that perfect holiday gift? Don’t worry, local businesses say they have you covered.

As the deadline to next Thursday’s big gift day ticks down, so are prices at Cape Coral businesses. In the city’s South Cape shopping and entertainment district, many places are offering last-minute steals and deals. The area is full of various shops to find whatever a loved one may enjoy.

“The South Cape is a great destination for last-minute gift shopping because it offers a wide mix of locally owned boutiques, specialty shops and gift stores all in one area,” said South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Association spokesperson Shannon Quinn. “Shoppers can find items that feel personal and unique, such as handmade goods, artwork, boutique clothing, custom pieces, rather than mass-produced items. The walkable nature of the district also makes it easy to visit several shops in a short amount of time, which is especially helpful for last-minute shoppers.”

Take trip down Cape Coral Parkway, or peruse Southeast 47th Terrace and see what catches your eye.

“Many small businesses in the South Cape area typically offer seasonal promotions, holiday discounts and gift card incentives during the final days leading up to the holidays,” Quinn added. “Some shops also run in-store specials or limited time sales that aren’t always advertised online, so visiting in person or checking social media pages is often the best way to find deals.”

For a city that is bountiful with small businesses, shopping local, especially during the holiday season, is way to benefit the city’s economy directly, as well as patron places that are owned and operated by neighbors.

“Shopping ‘small’ helps strengthen the local economy by keeping dollars circulating within the community,” Quinn said. “Local businesses are often family-owned, create local jobs, and are more likely to give back through community involvement and sponsorships. Small businesses also provide more personalized service, which can make gift giving more meaningful compared to buying something at larger retailers.”

At Zak’s Jewelry, patrons can find a wide variety of offerings. Family-owned and operated in Cape Coral since 1977, Zak’s has a compelling designs and sparkling custom jewelry. Zak’s master jewelers create elegant designs and custom pieces that are sure to convey the gifted’s sentiments.

“Having 48 years of experience servicing Cape Coral during the Christmas season has given us an unparalleled understanding of what Cape Coral wants,” said Zak’s owner, Alison Polo. “Our store is fully stocked with all of the classics, as well as new trendy pieces.”

From bracelets to pendants, necklaces to earrings, rings to charms and more, there’s something for every taste at Zak’s.

“As always, you can find quality merchandise at a reasonable price at Zak’s Jewelry, but to make it even better, we have a year-round 50% off case, amazing deals in the estate case, and amazing lab-grown diamonds pricing,” Polo said.

Polo also shared that shopping locally during the holidays is a benefit to the city directly.

“By shopping at a local small business, you are supporting your neighbors livelihoods, not distant shareholders,” she said. “You are reinvesting in your local community; its churches, schools, sporting teams, etcetera. Not to mention the personal service that comes along with shopping with people who care about whether or not you are happy. We want to see you come back. We want to meet the next generation in your family. We want to be a part of your family’s big milestones. This isn’t a one-time thing for us, we want to build a lifelong relationship.”

Simply Golden Boutique along 47th Terrace is offering a 12 Days of Christmas sale leading up to Christmas Eve, with daily discounts for patrons on various items.

On day five of the Christmas sale, patrons saw buy-one-get-one 50% off on Christmas merchandise. The day before, those who made a purchase received a free ornament. These are deals that will continue all week, said owner Hannah Johnson.

“Our sale is going to end on Christmas Eve, and that’s going to be the biggest discount, which I don’t know for sure yet, but it’s either going to be 50% or 60% off of all Christmas items,” Johnson said, adding that the shop will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Johnson said Simply Golden has a little bit of everything, for everyone.

“We have woman’s clothing. We have gifts. We have a ton of stocking stuffers. We even have some kid’s Christmas pajamas and kid’s books, too,” she said.

Simply Golden offers tops, bottoms, layers, dresses and rompers, lounge wear and shoes, as well as accessories such as jewelry, bags and purses, and bath and beauty items.

Johnson and Simply Golden collected donations this year to make a pair of local families have a bountiful holiday, which she said is something “big box” stores don’t usually offer.

“Local business supports people in the community,” she said. “Shopping local also keeps money in the local economy. Small businesses also support other small businesses.”

Simply Golden is posting every morning on its social media account what deal will be offered that day. Upcoming deals include 30% off all kid’s items, as well as buy-one-get-one on kitchenware.

Johnson said now is a great time to come check out the store.

“I think that this is like the best time to shop small because you kind of get the feeling of it being the most magical time of the year,” she said. “It’s just different in a small business where you can like feel that. When you come into Simply Golden, it just feels magical, and we care. We want to help you find the perfect gift for whoever you’re looking for.”
