Celebrate Rock Paper Scissors Day Wednesday at Hooters of Cape Coral

Rock, Paper, Scissors is considered one of the most iconic hand games in the world. Cape Coral Hooters is hosting a fun-filled celebration for kids and teens in honor of World Rock Paper Scissors Day on Wednesday, Aug. 27 starting at 6 p.m.

Festivities include the chance to win some cool prizes. The celebration will include rock, paper, scissors contests for three age groups: 10 and under category – winner gets free kid’s meals for a year; 11- to 15-year-old category – winner gets a VIP table for themselves and five friends for the upcoming 2026 Hooters Calendar signings and the 16 and older category – winner gets free wings for a year. To participate, just sign up at the restaurant on Aug. 27.

Commercial land sold in North Fort Myers

Gary Tasman, CEO and principal broker, and Shawn Stoneburner, senior director of Cushman & Wakefield | Commercial Property Southwest Florida, successfully represented the seller in the sale of 17501 N. Tamiami Trail in North Fort Myers. The $550,000 transaction involved a +7.24 AC prime vacant land parcel purchased as an investment by R.B.E. Investments of Southwest Florida Inc., which is considering potential light industrial development for the site.

Community Cooperative to host job fair

Community Cooperative, in partnership with Career Source Southwest Florida and Goodwill Southwest Florida, will host a job fair designed to connect local job seekers with employment opportunities and essential career resources. The event will take place Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Sam’s Community Café & Kitchen, at 3429 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Fort Myers.

Attendees will have the chance to meet with local employers, receive job search assistance and access resume support services. Additionally, the Goodwill Mobile Job Unit will be on site, providing career counseling, skills assessments, and access to additional resources for job seekers looking to strengthen their employability. The event also features a special offer of free haircuts courtesy of the Florida Academy to help participants present their best selves.

RSW announces July traffic totals

During July, 720,973 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. This was an increase of 6.5% compared to July 2024 and the second-best July in the 43-year history of the airport. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 0.8%.

The traffic leader in July was Delta with 173,395 passengers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (127,070), American (118,972), United (102,374) and JetBlue (70,046). Southwest Florida International Airport had 6,353 aircraft operations, an increase of 12% compared to July 2024.

Page Field saw 11,539 operations, which was a 10% decrease compared to July 2024.
