A new hotel to house visitors for business and pleasure alike held its grand opening last week in Cape Coral.

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, a 109-room, 60,000-square-foot hotel at 1701 Old Pondella Road, officially opened its doors last Thursday. The venue has a construction value of $4.466 million and was developed by Continental Properties.

“We are very pleased with the initial results of the Fairfield Inn & Suites at Cape Coral,” said Steve Wagner, senior vice president of acquisitions at Continental Properties. “This hotel is well located near the intersection of Del Prado and Pine Island Road. It provides outstanding access in all four directions. It is also located near the greatest concentration of national restaurants and retail in Cape Coral. Finally, the vast majority of the corporate growth in Cape Coral is headed north. This hotel will be able to provide business meeting services and overnights stays.”

Rooms and suites include plush Marriott bedding, ergonomic workspaces and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy free breakfast and maintain their workout routine with access to their outdoor pool and 24-hour fitness center

Cape Coral’s Economic Development Manager Ricardo Noguera said the hotel is a welcomed addition to a rapidly growing city, adding its occupancy rates have been “astronomical” thus far thanks in part to local sports tournaments in the area – showing just how valuable this new resource is.

“We are excited to witness the grand opening of the new Fairfield Inn by Marriott,” he said. “This new hotel represents just the first of several we anticipate opening in the Cape over the next 3 to 5 years to take advantage of the growing population of Southwest Florida’s largest community, with an assortment of commercial and residential development underway and planned exceeding one half billion in the works.”

Noguera added, “We welcome interests in developing more hotels, restaurants, corporate office, etc., and will consider financial incentives for the right types of development.”

With the location along two of the main travel roads in the Cape, the hotel has the potential to be a landing spot for all types of travel purpose.

“The location provides tremendous convenience for the leisure traveler visiting relatives and friends in Cape Coral,” Wagner said. “This hotel will attract a large amount of group business with attractive amenities on site and an array of room type alternatives.”

Jake Meier, marketing and communications lead for Continental Properties, added the addition of the hotel will help to restore the hard times many businesses, especially in hospitality that rely on visitors, have fallen upon over the pandemic.
