Stevens Construction completes Evans Avenue Utility Project

Stevens Construction has completed a utilities improvement project for the city of Fort Myers, announced Dan Adams, vice president, south Florida and partner.

Stevens Construction provided a new storm drainage system, sanitary system, water mains and utility connections to the residences along a quarter mile of Evans Avenue from Dr. Ella Piper Way to Provident Road, while reconstructing the roadway.

Completed as scheduled in nine months, the Evans Avenue roadway was completely removed down to the subgrade and rebuilt with new sidewalks, curbing, gutters, sodding, crosswalks, paving, striping and roadway signage.

Ruane to speak at REIS meeting March 9

Kevin Ruane, chairman of the Lee County Board of County Commissioners, will address the challenges and priorities facing Lee County government at the Real Estate Investment Society’s REIS March 9 luncheon meeting.

Ruane’s presentation will focus on the county’s budget, coordination with municipal governments, infrastructure projects and Lee County’s role in managing water resources. The commissioner is also expected to discuss growth management, impact fees and local legislative priorities in current Legislative Session. Following the presentation, Ruane will respond to questions of specific interest to the real estate investment and development industry.

Ruane is also chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners, which governs the Lee County Port Authority. He represents Lee County Commission District 1, which includes south Cape Coral, Sanibel, Captiva and Pine Islands. He served on the Sanibel City Council from 2007 to 2020 and as mayor from 2010 to 2020. He has professional expertise in accounting, taxation and financing.

The meeting is sponsored by Stantec, and will begin promptly at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, in the Osprey Room at Pelican Preserve’s Clubhouse, on Treeline Avenue at Colonial Boulevard. Schaner joins MK Architecture

Tom Schaner has joined the team at MK Architecture in Fort Myers as its newest project manager. Originally from Maryland, Schaner graduated from the Maryland Drafting Institute in Langley Park in architectural drafting, and later took a LEED Certification course. For 40 years, he has worked in the architectural field with invaluable hands-on experience including positions such as draftsman, construction administrator, job captain and senior-level project manager. 

During his career, Schaner has worked on a number of large-scale projects that include commercial, residential, educational, institutional, medical, military, public works and governmental projects.

Two team members at Morris-Depew Associates have achieved professional designations in the engineering and landscape architecture division. Matt Lincolnhol received his professional landscape architect license, while Assistant Project Manager and Project Engineer Stephen VerVaecke received his professional engineer license.

A member of the team since 2018, Lincolnhol has been actively involved with the American Society of Landscape Architects since his collegiate days at Clemson University, where he served as president of the student chapter.
