Great FMN Pizza Poll under way

The Great FMN Pizza Poll is an online public vote for the best pizza in Southwest Florida, chosen from a list of worthy contest entrants.

The Florida Merchants Network, a merchant co-operative group, which organized the promotion, committed to making it a benefit event by having part of the entrance fee paid with pizza donated to local food charities.

Two area groups are now receiving donations. Donations from Cape Coral pizza shops entering the poll are going to the Cape Coral Community Foundations “Feed the Cape” program. Donations from pizza shops on the “other side of the river” will go to CCMI in Fort Myers.

Several great pizza shops have already signed up for the first poll. Among those participating are Boston Richie Pizza, Heavenly Pizza, I Raggazzi Pizza, Jet’s Pizza, Lenny C’s Pizzeria Chicago, Little Caesars Pizza, Mangia Bene Ristorante Italiano, Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza, and Wine and Roses Italian Restaurant.

“We’re still getting public nominations in and there are several shops that didn’t make it into the initial voting,” says Dick Collins, Director of FMN. “It’s a great benefit project and we don’t want to deny anyone the opportunity to participate. Therefore, we are planning a second round of the Great FMN Pizza Poll, which will begin shortly.”

The organizers and recipients want to get the word out as the Great FMN Pizza Poll continues during the summer. “By all means, if you have a pizza business in SW Florida, or know of someone who does, call or email me,” says Collins.
