City’s final budget hearing is Thursday
Final number, all funds: $1,442,386,480
Cape Coral City Council will adopt the city’s final property tax rate and budget for Fiscal Year 2027 Thursday.
The tentative rate is 5.1471 mills and 0.1554 mills for the parks General Obligation Bond, of $5.1471 and $0.1554 per $1,000 of assessed taxable property valuation respectively. The tentative operating millage rate is a 1.35% decrease from the rolled-back rate of 5.2174 mills.
The general fund budget, using the tentative millage rate with no last-minute elimination of personnel, programs and no full cost recovery of program revenues is $284,541,013.
The total budget to be approved is $1,442,386,480.
The budget highlights public safety, parks and recreation, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.
The bulk of the improvements are slated for infrastructure for projects that include the Andalusia Boulevard extension, North 3 Utility Expansion water, sewer, irrigation collection and distribution and transmission; North Reverse Osmosis treatment plant expansion; water reclamation life station relocation; median curbing; and road surfacing.
This second and final budget hearing will be held at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in City Council chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.
