Major roadway milling, resurfacing work, begins Monday

By Staff | Aug 16, 2024

Crews will begin preliminary milling and resurfacing work in Cape Coral on Monday, Aug. 19, for the FY 24 Major Roads contract.

The initial phase includes 24-hour lane closures along Cape Coral Parkway, with the affected lanes changing daily to accommodate the ongoing work.

Milling and resurfacing of the following roadways are scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 26, with a tentative start date of Aug.28:

• El Dorado Parkway W: from Southwest 28th Place to Chiquita Boulevard

• Sands Boulevard: from El Dorado Parkway W to Beach Parkway

• Agualinda Boulevard: from El Dorado Parkway to Beach Parkway

• Cape Coral Parkway: from Santa Barbara Boulevard to the cul-de-sac at the western end, west of Sands Boulevard

Day and night work is scheduled to take place. Single-lane closures will be implemented during the day. Full travel direction closures will be necessary for some of the night work on Agualinda Boulevard and Sands Boulevard, with detours in place for travelers.

Every effort will be made to minimize the impact on local traffic during the work period. The projected duration of this project is approximately eight weeks, contingent on weather conditions and crew availability.

Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the area and, if able, seek an alternate route.
