‘Bloodstained Men’ to bring anti-circumcision protest to Cape Coral

Message: 'Everyone has a right to their own body'

An organization that travels to about 60 cities a year to protest against the circumcision of infants will come to Cape Coral Tuesday.

The Bloodstained Men will share their message that “Everyone has a right to their own body” with a peaceful protest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Parkway and Santa Barbara Boulevard S.

It will be part of a 13-day statewide protest tour that began Friday in Kissimmee and will wrap up next Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Orlando.

“Residents of Cape Coral will be peacefully educated by activists including victims of genital cutting,” a release from the non-profit that has protested the procedure since 2012 states.“The public will be reminded that babies whose genitals are mutilated as infants grow up to be men who are speaking out about what was done to their penis before they could defend themselves…”

The organization argues that child circumcision … “is unnecessary, cruel, damaging, and ethically unacceptable to remove a healthy body part from a person who is incapable of consent.”

Protesters typically dress in white clothing marred with “blood.”

“Our bloodstained suit serves as an arresting visual reminder that circumcision affects its victims for life. When a baby boy is circumcised, so is the man he will become,” the release states.

The public is welcome to take part. For more information visit: http://www.bloodstainedmen.com .
