FHP to conduct ‘Operation Dry Streets’ this weekend
The Florida Highway Patrol’s Elite DUI Squad and the Aggressive Driving Unit will be conducting “Operation Dry Streets,” a specialized impaired driving enforcement initiative, from Friday through Sunday, May 22-24, across Southwest Florida.
While weather forecasts are predicting rain during the Memorial Day weekend, the FHP will be working proactively to keep our roadways “dry” by identifying and removing impaired drivers before they cause a tragedy.
The goal of “Operation Dry Streets” is to prevent crashes, save lives and ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.
The FHP reminds motorists to never drive impaired; designate a sober driver; use rideshare services or public transportation; heads up, phones down; patience, patience, patience; and buckle up every trip, every time.
Through high-visibility enforcement and public awareness, troopers aim to deter dangerous behavior and protect all who travel Florida’s roadways.
