Election 2026 | Question of the Week 3, District 6
Each week through the Primary, The Breeze will ask the candidates for Cape Coral City Council an issue-related question. In the interest of fairness, each candidate is limited to the same amount of space, about 100 words, for their response.
Cape Coral City Council races are non-partisan races. Council members qualify in their respective districts but are elected at-large. This means all registered city voters may cast a ballot in each race regardless of where they live and the party to which they are affiliated, if any. This year’s Primary, on Aug. 18, features three Cape Coral City Council races: Mayor and the seats for District 1 and 6. District 4, with only two candidates, will be on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot.

Question of the Week: Should the city work to resolve the lease situation with the Cape Coral Rowing Club? If so, what do you propose?
• Joseph Angrisano
Yes! The Rowing Club brings significant community value and should have a permanent home at Tropicana Park. I’ll work with stakeholders, city council and local leader’s support on a fair, long-term lease that includes equipment storage mitigation.
• Jeffrey Huddleston
YES! There is no reason that the Rowing Club should not be allowed up there, we have other parks that lease out areas for other sports clubs with the same type of storage space for their equipment. This park was made for them and because of a local organization, the mayor and several council members, “his groupies,” voted no against having them there and are trying to move them elsewhere. We (taxpayers) spent over a half a million dollars on that park and the ramp. Now no one can use the boat ramp at this time. The city is also looking to charge people to use the gazebo that is in that park. This is unbelievable.

Yes. The city should pursue a fair, fiscally responsible lease preserving youth recreation while addressing residents’ concerns about storage, safety, and neighborhood impacts.

Yes. The City’s role is to bring people together to find a solution that serves the entire community, not pick winners and losers. The Cape Coral Rowing Club provides valuable opportunities for local youth, promotes healthy recreation, and has been an asset to our city. At the same time, nearby residents deserve to have legitimate concerns about traffic, parking, noise, and the park’s appearance heard and addressed. I would support a transparent, collaborative process that includes all stakeholders, explores practical compromises, and results in a fair, balanced agreement that protects both the neighborhood’s quality of life and the club’s future.

Yes. I support allowing the Cape Coral Rowing Club to remain at Tropicana Park because I believe it is the most fiscally responsible option for our taxpayers. The club has invested in the facility, provides outstanding recreational opportunities for our youth and families, and has become an important community asset. Relocating the program or having the city assume those responsibilities could cost taxpayers significantly more. I believe the city should work collaboratively with the Rowing Club to negotiate a fair, transparent lease that protects the public’s interests while allowing the club to continue serving our community.
