Captiva Beach Renourishment Project to begin Sept. 20

The Captiva Beach Renourishment Project is scheduled to begin Saturday, Sept. 20, starting at Turner Beach, according to a report from the Captiva Erosion Prevention District. The project will restore and protect the shoreline, enhancing resilience against erosion, storm surge and sea level rise, while preserving the beach for residents, visitors, wildlife, and the local economy. To facilitate this work, the Turner Beach Parking Lot will serve as a staging area and will be closed from Sept. 5 through Oct. 12.
