VFW chaplain visits island veteran
Recently, VFW Post #4353 Chaplin Richard Di Buono paid a visit to James Dolph, 97, a World War II Navy veteran who resides in St. James City on Pine Island. Dolph served on the USS Lacka-wanna (AO 40) in the Pacific refueling units involved in various operations. While vacationing in Florida years ago, Dolph and his wife, Verdena, visiting friends in Pine Island, decided they would enjoy spending time in the south. He is a Life Member of VFW Post #4353 since 1977, and the VFW notes it is an honor to have a member of the “Great-est Generation” in our community.
