Air Force Staff Sgt. Christopher F. Lewis has been selected to be recognized by the Portraits in Courage Program.

The Portraits in Courage program seeks to highlight the honor, valor, devotion and selfless sacrifice of America’s airmen. The 10th edition of Portraits in Courage recognizes 42 airmen who performed incredible feats-both in combat and in their local communities. Airmen highlighted in this year’s edition will be honored during an event in Washington, D.C., Friday, Aug. 4.

The event is hosted by the Secretary of the Air Force, Dr. Heather A. Wilson, and the Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. David L. Goldfein, and features a special “Heritage to Horizons” performance by the U.S. Air Force Band. The concert will be streamed live on the U.S. Air Force Facebook page, the Defense Video Imagery Distribution System and the U.S. Air Force webpage, www.af.mil.

Lewis is currently serving as a combat controller operator with 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla.

He is a native of Fort Myers.
