Join Lee Health and ‘pedal for a purpose’

By Staff | Jan 18, 2023

Get ready to put on your cycling shoes and “pedal for a purpose.”

Lee Health recently announced an event that will help bring state-of-the-art cancer care closer to home for south Lee County residents and visitors.

Pedal for a Purpose will take place on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5-9 p.m. The event is a pedal-a-thon that will be done on stationary bikes at Lee Health Coconut Point, located at 23450 Via Coconut Point in Estero. Funds raised during Pedal for a Purpose will aide in the expansion of Lee Health’s Regional Cancer Center at the Bonita Health Center with the creation of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic.

Pedal for a Purpose teams can have between 4-8 riders. There must be a rider on the bike during the entire four-hour event, but riders can switch at any time and ride as little or as much as they want.

Participation in this event will help provide state-of-the-art cancer care closer to home for the residents and visitors of south Lee and Collier counties when the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic opens in early 2023. The new clinic will feature a 32-chair infusion center, four individual treatment rooms and 12 exam rooms.

Funds raised will also help support community health and wellness education in early disease detection, chronic disease management and healthy lifestyle education.

Registration will remain open for the event, presented by The Club at Grandézza, until Jan. 20 or until bike spots are sold out. Cycle Bar is providing the stationary bikes for participants to use.

For registration purposes, each team must have a captain. Teams can register at https://leehealthfoundation.org/pedal-for-a-purpose.
