REGION 2A-3

Mariner’s two star grapplers, Camren French (126 pounds, 50-1) and defending state champion Maximus Brady (132 pounds, 43-2), took home regional championships at the 2A-3 tournament at Charlotte High in Punta Gorda.

Another Triton, Logan Ngo, took fourth place at 215.

In a tournament dominated by Tampa Jesuit, several other area wrestlers qualified for the state championship.

Cape Coral’s Judd Cole finished second at 150 pounds, while fellow Seahawks Isaac Towenko (120) and Tyler Charette (175) came in third.

North Fort Myers will be sending several wrestlers, led by second-place D’angelo Gil at 120 pounds. Julian Gonzales (165), Frank Cornelison (215) and Seth Tshiams (285) took thirds.

The FHSAA State Championshps will be held Feb. 29 through March 2 in Kissimmee.

Bennett Sweitzer of Bishop Verot will head to the state championship tournament in Kissimmee as a region champion. Sweitzer won the 175-pound weight class in the region meet at Lemon Bay. Vikings teammate

Edward Nolan was fourth at 285.

Three Oasis competitors earned trips to state. Kealan Clifton (150 pounds) took third place, while Colin Anderson (165) and Frederick Harley Jr. (190) were fourth in their weight classes.
