Friday

FOOTBALL

Cape Coral 20, Cypress Lake 6: The Seahawks defense stood tall once again Friday, holding Cypress to six points, and Ivan Harvin hit two touchdown passes. Cape Coral (4-0) led 12-0 at the half on Harvin’s 18-yard pass to Howerton Maddox and two Blake Thomas field goals. The Panthers pulled within 12-6 with a score late in the third quarter, but Cape came right back on Ta’Darien Green’s 16-yard TD reception from Harvin. The Seahawks added a safety in the game’s final minute.

Mariner 36, Riverdale 19: Noah Tolbert passed for four touchdowns and ran for another as the Tritons remained unbeaten (4-0). Tolbert’s scoring passes were to Kaelon Davidson (48 yards), Marcus Kelley Jr. (26 and 12 yards) and Justin Lewis (7 yards). Tolbert ran 28 yards for the Tritons’ final touchdown. Kelley also caught a 2-point conversion pass from Tolbert.

Lemon Bay 34, North Fort Myers 33: Friday’s wildest game didn’t go the Red Knights’ way. Andre Costa ran for three touchdowns to push North out to a 20-6 lead, but Lemon Bay roared back to hold a 28-20 margin. Then it was the Red Knights’ turn again, with Virgil Maloy scoring from 10 yards out, and the North defense got in on the act, forcing a turnover and taking it in for a TD. In the end, it was Lemon Bay that scored the winning points on a fourth-quarter run. North lost its fourth in a row, having faced some of the area’s toughest competition.

Bishop Verot 49, First Baptist Academy 22: The 4-0 Vikings spotted FBA an 8-0 lead, then scored the next 33 points to take control. Ryan Gadson ran 49 yards for a touchdown and Leroy Roker took a pitchout and raced 89 yards for another score. Carter Smith hit Matthew Turner on a TD pass, scored on a 1-yard run, and connected with Gadson for another touchdown. Smith tacked on a 20-yard scoring pass to Jack Janeway in the third quarter. Deshon Jenkins’ 1-yard run capped the Vikings’ scoring.

Estero 21, Island Coast 6: Gervaris Leaphart’s 3-yard run brought the Gators (1-3) within 14-6 in the third quarter.

Community School of Naples 37, Oasis 13: The Sharks (3-1) led 10-7 at the half, but CSN dominated after intermission. Tommy Smith caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Parker Smith, giving Oasis the lead in the second quarter. That TD was the first time CSN had given up a score this season. Ryan Rosado kicked field goals of 35 and 40 yards.
