Osceola 7, Island Coast 5: The defending Class 5A state champion Gators fell short in their quest to repeat. Island Coast (20-4) had the bases loaded and no out when Friday’s suspended 4-4 game resumed Saturday afternoon, but could manage only a single run. Osceola (22-6) tied the game at 5 in the bottom of the fifth, then Noah Ray’s two-run homer in the sixth provided the difference. Ray was also the winning pitcher with three scoreless innings of relief. Emilio Gonzales powered Island Coast’s offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Mason Blackburn had two hits and an RBI, and Kevin Martinez scored twice for the Gators.
