Red Sox, JetBlue Park to host events in October

JetBlue Park at Fenway South, home of the Boston Red Sox Spring Training, is hosting a number of events in October 2022.

From Oct. 6-9, La Mesa RV, one of the largest RV dealerships in the country, will be hosting a free RV showcase on the property located off Daniels Parkway at 11500 Fenway South Drive, Fort Myers.

On Oct. 15, the 12th Annual Walk For Wishes Southwest Florida 5K presented by Lake Michigan Credit Union will take place at JetBlue Park. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. Afterward, participants will enjoy a Family Fun Day with games, food, music and more. On Oct. 22-23, the Hotwork Estero Fine Art Show will be happening onsite. All disciplines of art will be for sale at all price ranges including paintings, clay, glass, sculpture, fiber, wood, jewelry and more. The free event will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is $5 and supports arts and education. Food will be available for purchase from Cousin’s Maine Lobster, Philibert Kitchen Jamaican Flavors, Gran Arepa, Molly Moo’s Ice Cream as well as live music. As part of its continuing community outreach efforts, the Red Sox Foundation will hold its 11th annual Swings for the Sox golf tournament on Oct. 7. For the first time since 2016 the tournament is sold out. It will take place at the Tiburón Golf Club’s Black Course located at 2620 Tiburón Drive in Naples.

All proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the Lee County Red Sox Scholarship program. Each year, the Red Sox Foundation awards a $5,000 college scholarship to one deserving student from each of the public high schools in Lee County and one student from a Lee County charter and ALS school for a total of 15 scholarships worth $75,000.

To date, the Swings for the Sox has raised more than $497,000 for local charities and specifically $437,175 for the scholarship program.
