District 1A-11 Tournament

Bishop Verot 17, Cape Coral 2: The Vikings (7-7) advance to face Estero in Tuesday’s second round. Cape finishes the season at 1-7.

Baseball

Mariner 4, Palmetto Ridge 3: Anthony Pimentel was 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Tritons (12-8) past Palmetto Ridge in the Battle of the Border Tournament at Terry Park in Fort Myers. Jeff Mackey and Matthew Morales also drove in a run each. Dominick Cotoni picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief.

LaBelle 14, Ida Baker 13 (8 innings): LaBelle rallied with five runs in the bottom of the eighth to edge the Bulldogs (4-17). Ida Baker had taken a 13-9 lead in the top of the inning. The Cowboys, still down four and down to their final out, managed to pull it out. Steven Thompson, Cayden Farmer and Aiden Powers drove in two runs each for Baker. The Bulldogs were stung by 10 errors.

Fort Myers 10, Cape Coral 2: Andrew Friedl drove in both runs for the Seahawks (5-15) at Terry Park.

Estero 5, North Fort Myers 4: Also in the Battle of the Border, the Wildcats scored all five runs in the final two innings to overcome the Red Knights (9-12). Gary Kamphouse had an RBI for North.

Bishop Verot 3, Evangelical Christian 2: In the Private 8 Conference tournament, the Vikings (15-5) held off a late ECS bid for the victory. Verot led 3-0 through five innings, with the Sentinels scoring one in the sixth and one in the seventh before the Vikings sealed the win.

Softball

Riverdale 20, Mariner 3 (5 innings): Kelli-ann Suthard scored two runs and Jamie Jarvis had an RBI for the Tritons (3-13).
