Founded in 1982 by local residents, the then-named Cape Coral Mayors Youth Fund was designed to support the youth of the Cape community in pursuing post-secondary education.

To raise funds for the scholarships, the CCMSF relies on corporate sponsorships, contributions from the public and fundraising events.

Any legal resident of Cape Coral who is a high school senior is eligible to apply. Eligible programs of study include degree or certificate programs from accredited vocational institutes, trade schools, two-year or four-year colleges and universities.

CCMSF is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) governed by a volunteer board of directors. The purpose is to award scholarships for Cape Coral high school students to pursue post-secondary education at a college, university or technical school. While it is not part of city government, the Mayor of Cape Coral serves as the organization’s honorary chairperson and there has been a warm partnership since inception.
