We can all do our part…

To the editor:

Big fun on Saturday! Dump hazardous waste at City hall near the Police Department! Saturday, Aug. 7, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. waste can be deposited of the unsafe kind: batteries, paint, chemicals etc… anything you don’t want in your drinking water should a hurricane flood your garage. You can drop these off at the City Hall/Waste Pro site near the Police Station during the morning hours for free.

Waste Pro will also be on hand this Aug. 7 event to accept yard waste, mattresses, large items and any kind words for management. You can drop off the junk in your yard and explain to the out-of-state corporation staff how you feel. They still seem to think Cape Coral should pay for service, but can’t find any drivers who want to work for subsistence wages. So now we have a DIY bulk drop off next Saturday. Feel free to explain your understanding of Adam Smith’s labor supply wage theory to them when dropping off your bulk trash or yard waste.

Of course, every first Saturday of the month the Fort Myers toxic dump depot is open and Saturday, Aug. 7, is no exception. They accept deposits of hazardous materials from 8 to noon at 6441 Topaz off of Metro Parkway in Fort Myers. It is important to get rid of these hazardous gases, insecticides, phosphates and other dangerous chemicals now, because your home could be in greater fire danger with the heat, and hurricane season reaches its peak soon. In the event of a breach during a hurricane, you don’t want to add dangerous chemical spills to your worries or our waterways.

The fish still left alive after the Piney Point debacle, red tide, blue green algae and Gov. DeSantis’ mismanagement of our waterways will appreciate your effort.
