News Flash: Florida county officers might be headed to Texas and Arizona to assist in border control in a plea for help from governors of Texas and Arizona. In 1924 The federal government became totally responsible for our nations border security.

Under the INA revision in 2001 some very limited authority is given to local officers to involve themselves in border enforcement. This latest move from Gov. Ron DeSantis and the other two governors does not come into play. There might be two considerations why DeSantis is making headlines. In 2022 all three governors — Ducey from Arizona, Abbott from Texas and our very own DeSantis –are up for re-election. I think politics is the driving force behind this charade or perhaps DeSantis got a case of Montezuma’s Revenge.

Our taxes are better served by keeping our officers in our State handling Florida crimes.
