To the editor:

We simply can not tolerate people dying in the streets.

Therefore, the employers in any given community must pay wages commensurate with the local ( Repeat: local) Cost of Living — or — be taxed to provide Social Services sufficient to forestall such dying.

It is likely that the option of paying living wages — even to inefficient workers — is the cheapest alternative in the long run.

It is granted that such is a hard sell to the GoPer me-now community.
