Veronica Montoya Erb

Apr 12, 2024

Veronica Montoya Erb, age 97, passed away in the early morning of April 10, 2024, in Columbia, Maryland. Born in the Philippines May 31, 1926, she came to the United States in 1948. Married to the late Melvin J. Erb and former residents of Westminster, MD, Veronica was employed in Westminster by Knit Corp. In 1980, Veronica and Melvin moved to Cape Coral, Florida where she was employed by Cape Coral Togs and Dix Canvas of Cape Coral.

Predeceased by husband Melvin J. Erb and son Dale A. Erb. Veronica moved back to Maryland after 25 years in Cape Coral, FL where she resided in New Windsor, MD.

A beautiful soul inside and out, her generosity and thoughtfulness towards her loved ones knew no bounds. Retired in Westminster, she loved driving her car into town and enjoyed her outings to Boscov’s and Forbidden City. However, nothing compared to her love of the Crop Shop and her weekly banter with the girls while she was getting her hair curled. Though she faced many hardships and losses throughout her life, she remained steadfast, never abandoning her values or her sense of humor. The beauty of her smile, the charisma in her laugh, and her never faltering spunk drew everyone to her. Known as the “Feisty Filipino” by her caregivers at The Terraces in Westminster and Gilcrest Hospice in Columbia, Veronica was by all accounts, the favorite and most stubborn resident. A life well lived, full of family, friends, and the first in her family to set out on a new path to America, Veronica was not only brave but beloved.

Survived by her son Ronald W. Erb and his wife Theresa of Westminster, 7 grandchildren Lauren M. Eyler, Ryan J. Erb, Jamie P. Erb, Kristen N.M. Johnson (step-granddaughter), and Brittany L. Eckhardt (step-granddaughter) of Maryland and California, and Matthew W. Erb and Michael A. Erb of Cape Coral, Florida. Four great-grandchildren Jonathan, Daniel, Clark, and Nolan of Maryland. Survived and predeceased by her siblings Omie, Edna, Nora, Salome (deceased), Susana (deceased), Rosalinda (deceased), Soledad (deceased), Jose Jr. (deceased), and Ruben (deceased). Survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, and friends both in the Philippines and the United States.

We will treasure you always and you will be missed. Until we meet again…

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 1-3pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
