Rebuilding Together to hold hurricane supply giveaway in Fort Myers Tuesday

By Staff | Jul 8, 2024

As the peak of hurricane season approaches, Rebuilding Together is dedicated to ensuring the community is prepared. On July 9, from 6-7:30 p.m., Rebuilding Together will distribute free Hurricane Relief Kits at Mt. Olive AME Church (Dunbar Community Center), 2754 Orange St., Fort Myers.

Supplies will be distributed by volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis until they run out.

RTTB’s mission is “repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives.” It achieves this by providing home repairs, housing, education and other forms of assistance free of cost.

RTTB addresses critical issues such as leaking roofs, problematic ducts aggravating asthma symptoms in children and installing safety features like grab bars for elderly residents. It also constructs new homes, providing homeownership opportunities to those who may have never deemed it possible. Following Hurricane Ian, RTTB was designated the lead affiliate for statewide response and recovery efforts, extending its service area to heavily impacted communities in Southwest and Central Florida, where it assisted the most vulnerable in repairing and rebuilding.
